Anyone ever been to syria?

I've heard good things...but I've also heard some countries prohibit their citizens from travelling there.  Does the U.S.?

Anyone?

Been to Syria many times, lovely Country and lovely people.  Palmyra is a must as well as Damascus - you also have to visit Craque de Chevalier.

Some Countries have given out warnings going to Syria, but Prohibit -NO.  Some countries also give warnings for people going to Qatar as well

one of my relatives lived there while working, but she told me how peaceful and beautiful it was, the weather and nature in an amazing harmony with people, the biggest number of old civilizations, not mentioning Damascus the oldest known capitalized city in the world.

But the most important thing, it's the only country in the world that never had any relegious troubles at all, Christians, Muslims and Jews are living peacefully since thousands of years, and don't forget jesus started his call for christianity from Syria to the world.

Peace for the whole world.

first, definitely Syria is NOT "the only country in the world that never had any religion troubles".. but YES, they know how to CO-EXIST and they are very tolerant to all religions...and their schools are mixed with all religions… and yes, it USED to be that muslims, christians and jews were sitting at the same classroom of the same school.. however there are no jews in Syria left as for now… muslims and Christians are still mixed and even celebrate all the muslim and christian holidays TOGETHER.. I really love it.. I wish Lebanon could learn something from them…

The best people are found in syria.

Qatari sun is very right that Syrians really know and accept each other no matter what their religion. They are known for good manners and beautiful natures.

I often think that their culture is much easier for westerners to relate with then other middle eastern countries.

Syria is beautiful. I don't think there are any advisories from the US embassy.

Be careful if you drive, because it can be chaotic. Also, access to ATM's and mall's is restrictive, but the culture, sights are great.
