The English Kindergarden owner if i am not mistaken used to run CESK. And she have a good reputation running the nursery.

sharkbait said Another perspective... ...

Just wanted to make a quick comment... on my travels gathering info for a nursery place for several colleagues I came across The English Kindergarten. The first thing I noticed was that although they advertise as a British Curriculum school, the manager is South African and the majority of staff are also foreign, this may not have been a problem, however, when asked questions about the curriculum the manager was very evasive and was more interested in taking my money than answering any questions. I am still unsure as to their actual curriculum, as she didn't seem to know what schemes if any they used, even for the reception aged children. Since this experience I have spoken to a few parents who have actually pulled their children out! On the surface it looks lovely but unfortunately looking a little further isn't so rosy!!! I'd also heard that these children had to bring their own tissues/water etc as it wasn't available. I appreciate the school is new and they have teething problems but basically it's not a place I would consider as even the basics have not been provided for, if they cater to children as old as 4 years, they should have a sound curriculum, including resources, in place.... they don't.

I just saw our comments and since u have tried to get more detailed information u may be right. I did look around a few nurseries that still had spaces available and found that most did not even have a set curriculum so in that sense the English Kindergarten fared better. The impression I got from all the nurseries I visited was the enthusiasm in getting money.....what can parents also do in a place like this where schools are full and we have to fall back on a stop gap arrangement? Keeping the kids at home is not a solution because they need to channelise their energy in a constructive manner...anyways thanks for your perspective. In the future I shall be ask for more details.

Just around the corner from the English Kindergarten is Tots Corner and also Little Angels nursery. Maybe you could try these if you are looking for a nursery in the Abu Hamour area. If not, I have heard that the Creative Child Nursery in the Riviera Gardens Compound is excellent. Hope this helps.
