IB vs british education system
By angiechia on Tue, 13/05/2008 - 6:02pm
Hello all
I posted this in one of the education threads, but did not get any reply, so I thought maybe i re-post via a new and more direct thread.
I note that there are many teachers in this forum. Wonder if anyone can tell me the difference between the IB and British education system?
Is it true to say that IB focusses more on project work but British system more textbook and exam based? If so, is the IB closer to the American system then?
Thanks so much for your time and patience!

IB ...IB is a popular program and growing in the United States, thus it has proven to align quite well with an American curriculum. It stresses critical thinking skills, how knowledge is related, and uses a variety of assessments - external and internal, written and oral.

Angiechia ...This will answer many of your questions with reference to the 16+ IB and British A levels.
For younger children google 'PYP (Primary Years Programme)' and 'MYP (Middle Years Programme)'

were given. Satan - 10."

that's a big issue to debate - pros and cons of both systems ... hmm .. but having gone through the 'A' levels myself, I may beg to differ ... wonder if anyone have any personal experiences to share?

At the primary level (which ...At the primary level (which is all I know) they are pretty similar. Neither of them really focus on textbooks and both have exams.
