Thais in Qatar

Hello all, I will be taking a position in Qatar in the start of Jun 08, I have a Thai wife and son, are there many Thai's in Qatar for my wife to mix with, We lived in Oman and had lots of Thai friends there, Also Thai food shopping, When we moved to Oman we had heaps of extra baggage all my wifes food things to get her started until we found the right shops to buy, I tell you it helped on them first weeks on arrival. also are there any Thai eating out places,, Thank you inadvance.

thai food ingredients no ...thai food ingredients no prob here. altho i am not thai but i do cook thai food and so far no complains. as for thai restaurants have not found any really good ones considering i have lived in BKK so ya know the diff and that is how i started cooking it myself to have it taste as authentic as possible lol......as for the thai community here - also many thais here she wont feel lonely once she meets them .....

THAI snack in front of doha ...THAI snack in front of doha clinic is very good!! and like all thai people, the staff is incredibly nice and kind :)
They even do thai massage there, (never tried though)

I'm Thai ...No worries about Thai ingredients. You can find many Thai food products from Megamart Supermarket or Family Food Centre. Thai Snack House Restaurant near Doha Clinic Hospital offers tasty food at very resonable price whereas Thai Smile Restaurant sucks! As a Thai, the taste at Thai Smile Restaurant is not acceptable to me at all. I visited twice and will never go there again. Thai-Chi at Villagio mall is also great but quite expensive though.
There are many Thai housewives here in Doha. It's all depending on which group your wife can mix with.

You will not get many Thai people out here.
Doha has considerably big Chinese, Vietnamese, Singaporean comunity - but lesser Korean and Thai population.
Most of the star category hotels serve Thai food, but your wife will not get the same homely authentic taste, for sure.
