police for everyone

When I got here in Qatar I had the notion that policemen here would only reprimand or chase after non-Qatari traffic violators. Alas I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!

Last May 14 me and my officemate went to Villagio to buy tickets for the finals of the Emir Cup which was played in Khalifa Staduim the following day. On our way back to the office we were caught in a very bad traffic. The queue of the cars in the road was totally unbelievable (the time was 1:30pm).

Out of nowhere one LANDCRUISER was speeding in the pavement to cut the traffic. I told my officemate "there goes the best drivers in the world and i bet these policemen in front of us will do nothing about it".

As if hearing my comment, these policemen chase the Landcruiser and stopped the said vehicle. We were more than a hundred meters away from them but i show a guy in white thoub went down from the erring Landcruiser. I thought the policemen will just reprimand him and let him go but to my surprise these policemen got hold of some sticker booklet and wrote something on it, tore some part and stick it to the vehicle of this erring Landcruiser. I was clapping my hand coz i was so happy to see that our favorite car in the road was ticketed.

My jubilation did not stop there and then as 3 other Landcruisers were doing different violations one after the other and the same policemen chase all of them and did the same. The drivers of these 3 Landcruisers were arguing with the policemen but to no avail. They were handed their tickets.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TRAFFICE POLICE FORCE OF QATAR! You have done your best and you have proven me wrong that indeed the long arms of law is for everyone!
