Good camping beach in Qatar?

markiesurferboy's picture

Could anyone recommend a good camping beach in Qatar for the weekend? Not busy but with soft sand, smooth waters, jetski access?

Any suggestions ?

Thanx !!

Mate, head over to Zekreet (western peninsula) it is fairly deserted with soft sand, shallow waters for easy access for jet ski etc.

Also close to the old movie set if you fancy a walk around something different.

Or alternatively you could try 42km beach (before Fuwairit) on the eastern coast above Al Khor (take north road and keep on trucking).

Or (my lord we do go to to many beaches here) head up past the Losail Circuit (watch out for speed traps) and when you get to the Qatar Scientific Model Flying club turn right, at the aerodrome skirt round the left hand side (as you look at it) and head to the coast, there is a mangrove area however beaches to either side (steer clear of the 2 palaces though) and it is deserted with good waters.

We came we saw we were Qatarized

Thanx mate, will do some exploring this weekend !
I know zekreet, lovely place, good for kitesurfing but the sand is rock hard.

Have a good one everyone !

We've been thinking of checking out Zekreet. Is it OK to head out there with just one car (like going out to Dukhan) or more like with a group (like going to Inland Sea). Thanks a lot.

No problem driving to zekreet with one car just don't venture of driving on the (dark) beach, this is drifting sand and below it is mud, very nasty if you get stuck...................obviously this happened to me so be warned !! btw there is nothing out there so bring what you need!!

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

I can say avoid the sand near the water at Umm Bab as well. Very wet and thick. Actually, I would say avoid Umm Bab all together. It was nasty when we went. Very trashy on beach and in water. Looks like there's been lowtide out there for weeks. Stagnant water. Only cool part was seeing tons of camels and those really big monitor lizards.

The golden beach or the algariah. Beautiful beach, unspoilt, water level never exceeds the threshold of you shoulders. Pass alkhor. Dont bother looking at the board.. Its 4 to 5 kms before port overlooking bahrain.
Right turn at the fork when you enter the road to the beach. The left takes you to a military base or something.

cheers
