decline in rental rates

The rental rates in Qatar have been increasing till date, but as Qatar was not selected or pre qualified to host Olympics, will this have a major negative impact on the rental prices in Qatar?? Will the prices decline or will be stable in the market?? Many international companies are stepping behind to invest in qatar is it true??

But this middle men who take up this flats and villas for breaking in to small-small acco. for Family and bachelor's will not allow the rents to decline

First stop renting houses from them, then there is scope of decline in rents

that's what they thought in 2006.... they thought, that the prices go up because of up coming Asian Games...Asian Games are history since December 2006... rent is still going up and up...

thats impossible... who would gonna sacrifice to stay under the palm trees? absolutely.. nobody... climate here is so bad... everybody should be sheltered cool.

still the rates would go "as is"
as is where it had been started.. it will go as it is...:)

Im one of the community here in Qatar suffered high rental of accomo.... I couldnt believe it would be like these since now that Im starting to rent & doing it all alone!!!

I wish someone incharge here in Qatar review the situation dramatically & seriously take a necessary action!!!! Expat like me who sacrifice far away from family just to earn a bit higher than in our origin country but its like we been trapped & force to pay the landlord,high cost of foods now,etc. Well, for instant, we dont want to share a room or do the bedspace but were force to do it due to the high cost of living here.

said in the previous post about rent and the asian games that the games and DAGOC were never the cause of high rents.
I say now what I said then, there were more people going to Qatar for other organisations including Qatar Airways, QF, Dolphin and many others. It will only be when the situation stabilises that the rents may drop and even then not significantly.

well theres strong rumours in our building that rent is going to be increased, so we will see what happens..

If landlords follow the new laws of not increasing rent until 2010, they will just stay the same, but i highly doubt it some greedy landlords will follow the law..

1- BROKERS OR MIDDLE AGENT WHO TELL THE LANDLORD THAT HE WILL GIVE HIM BETTER OFFERS
2- VILLA PARTITIONS PHENOMENA IN DOHA ( 1 VILLA BETWEEN 6 FAMILIES)
3- SOME COMPANIES PAYING HIGH PRICES FOR RENT.. THEY HAVE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL EG- QATAR AIRWAYS
4- NO CONTROL FROM THE COUNTRY FOR RENTS.. THE INCHARGES R THE OWNERS OF THE MOST OF VILLAS AND COMPOUNDS

I keep hearing this, but landlords are never to be found, in our experience of house hunting, there was only real estate agents. ..Where are they????

Whenever i experience some sort of a technical prblem at the house Im staying,etc, only the caretaker of the Villa is used to communicate with me. Owner never bother to hear his tenant concern here???

For the landlords to appear in front of you, you need to take out the car and keep driving around the place...there are some places (villas mostly) which normally when being built newly lead you to the Landlord directly and most of times the caretakers at those Newly built villas give you the contacts of the landlords...

it is easy to say "do not rent from them" but would-be renters commonly make decision to rent based on the following;

1. proximity of flat to their office or simply about location
2. rental rate
3. building condition.

may be the government should consider this if they are serious in bringing down the rental rates;

real estate companies should be closed and all leasing agreement should be controlled by the government. meaning all local building owners/villas are obliged by law to course all their building rental business to a government real estate department or a housing board and not to private real estate companies.

exception from this should be those building primarily intended for investors/ high end users; like pearl qatar,damac losail etc.

i'll create a new forum on how should the government help in lowering accomodation rental rates.

Reason for high rental rates is demand is high. Once supply cathes demand prices will steady out and once supply is higher then they will drop. Reason demand so high is importing all the workes to build for Olympics but now thats gone still Qatar has millions invested they won't stop now so expect them to stay high for a while.

Ill tell you once - NEVER, NEVER rent from an agent.
These cons will tell you "oh yeah good price" but remember they have a vested interest in MAXIMISING not only the rent you pay but future rental rate as well.
These last few years I have seen nothing but unscrupulous fleecers prey on all the public. Everyone will tell you to "hurry and make decision, have 5 other people looking at same property, demand is strong and getting stronger" - LIES . Do your utmost to avoid every one of these thieves. Thats what they are - opportunistic thieves. If they work for a realty company
or represent a landord AVOID like the plague.
