Anyway, let's not move off track.. Qatar is a more conservative society. A friend's wife had a similar situation at Souq Waqqif. His wife and twenty year old son were wandering around the place, when the son put his arm round the mother and hugged her as they walked. A policeman came and told him not to do that ..

i truly agree to ur comments shez84 ... if they dont improve their nature towards people ... there is not gonna be any improvement ... Money cant buy everything !! Qatar is too rigid & so long as this attitude remains this place will never come up forget being an international city. Its a fact that this place can never be compared to Dubai. Its nowhere close to Dubai.

it is hard to entertain foreign cultures while trying to maintain local cultures.. e.g the dress code here.. u cant walk around half naked no matter how hot it is..which is different in other places where we come from..bottom line is laws should be forced on all...there are some locals following ladies around announcing their phone numbers but nothing is done to them

As long as Qataris think this country's laws and rules only apply to non-Qataris, and not to them too, then this little dot on the map will never become a grown-up, mature country.
I'm all for respecting local customs and the current laws, wherever I may be a guest.
I don't smoke in the malls, I join the end of a queue (not the front of it) and I don't drive like a maniac. Now, if Qataris did as I do, in these and other law-abiding matters, then they could begin to consider themselves civilised.
Until then, forget it!
