Guys! you have to check out the new Indian restaurant/-a-t-/ Villaggio..its fab.....very rich food... a favourite i hear with the locals...well Indian food as always been a fav with Qatari's.
This onez different though.. its got dishes hand picked my an famed Indian singer - Asha Bhosle.....The menue has a nice lil story to add to each dish.. its a MUST try...
Happy Eating! for all you Foodies out there.
If any of you guys have already tried it out.. feedback would be great...

I have found that the ...I have found that the majority of Indian restaurants in Doha are terrible. I am suprised that the Indian restaurants here are so bad because we are close to India. The Indian food in America is much better than here. The only one I eat in is Bukhara near the tennis stadium. So I hope this place is good.

Well Eagles... ...Good to see that you dine at Indian Rests...I think the main reason is that Indians are not much of a frequent eaters outside as in the families not the younger generation...and trust me Indians mind spending...LOL!!!
So thats why you dont have that many quality or signature style restaurants...like in most other countries...
But this one Ashas is a high class quality chain of restaurants which only does FINE DINING,, so I would presume that this would be real nice...will try it very very soon!!!

Ok ksarat I'll take your ...Ok ksarat I'll take your word for it. I really like tandoori chicken, butter chicken with assorted nan. I have found that tandoori chicken tastes better in restaurants. I might have some every couple of months. If I don't like Ahshas I'm holding KSARAT responsible which means I'll track him down and make him pay me back. looool

HI everyone...you must try ...HI everyone...you must try the "Bombay Balti" at the Ramada Plaza...Though the menu is limited ,the food is great

wow, i can see that many of you have visited Asha's...it chatted ...with the waiters and they tell me its been open just a few weeks and it seems like months .. with so many nationals and expatriates visiting...Do let me in any nice dishes that you guys have tried and that you can recommend. The Indian desserts are yum, also the Mango lassi... slurp slurp

Sounds good ...I used to frequently visit this place chingaari at Ramada but lately I have been going to Bombay Balti which is equally good.. Taj Rasoi is not bad and Bukhara is nice too but nothing can beat a pure south Indian meal.. Yummmm.. Garam garam Idlis, Varas, Masala dosa, Sambhar, Iddyapam, putta kadela, Uttapaa and so on.. Which is the best South Indian restaurant in Qatar? I used to love Welcome but unfortunately they closed down so now I go to Aryas a lot but the food is nothing compared to Welcome. I would appreciate some suggestions.

I love Indian food. I eat it ...I love Indian food.
I eat it all the time at home.
For lunch I eat the indian food prepared on site for the workers and I am forever getting funny looks from them as I tuck in.
I will deffinately try Ashas but I would love to know of any more good Indian resturants.

The lebanese woman (I think) who greets people was a total a$$
After our order came ONE HOUR later, she tried to give excuses BEFORE we even explained what was going on.
She had a rough tone and tried to blame US for the delay saying 'we asked for the food to come together".
I said "no we didn't". She said "yes you must have".
No apology no nothing. So I call over the waiter and say, "Did we ask for everything to come together". He said "no I just assumed you wanted the appetizer to come with the main meal, I'm sorry about that'.
HE apologized, and she just walked away. *sighs*

Indian Food ...I will certainly try out Ashas as i enjoy indian food, I usually go to the Maharajah, nothing fancy and well priced (does one of the best chicken tikka massalah I have tasted. Frequented by many Indians it has a small basic restaurant area at street level and a family area upstairs which is usually busy!

i was supposed to eat there ...i was supposed to eat there last nite.. but somethin made me go to macaroni grill.. and the thing i ordered wasnt great.. after seeing this thread i think i shud have gone there.. lol.. btw dont the waiters luk a bit funny in that dress..

Folks do you know that there is actually nothing called "Indian Food" for a simple reason each state in India has its own food habits and raw materials used. What you eat are largely mixed indian food which a little piece of all..or mostly used in a few states in India.
I actually want to open a restraunt which has reciepies from each part of india and make people aware of the different tastes..but a few things are holding me back..anybody care for finance and sponsorship? I can do the rest of the things..

ksarat16 my friend,slight ...ksarat16 my friend,slight correction there if i may,Indian families IN DOHA don't frequently eat out & Indians IN DOHA mind spending,because the same is not true of say Dubai or Bahrain & for that matter India itself where today,it is damn near impossible to get a table on a weekend at a good Indian restaurant in any of the metros without a reservation...Qatar just attracts the wrong sort of Indians i guess :)

Asha's... disappointing :-( ...Had lunch there today.... food was ok but expensive. Service was TERRIBLE.
I'll stick with Bukhara. It's close to home, I like the atmosphere, the service is always good, and the food is better.

ashas ...I ate at Ashas a few days back and I am sorry to say that the food is bland and totally unappetising.
But the service and ambience are good.
They treat you royally and the time to get your order would be around 20 minutes.
The fooe is not tasty at all.

Went to Asha couple of weeks ...Went to Asha couple of weeks back, it was so crowded that we decided to eat at Sarai. Was in villagio today and found it was totally deserted.

If i go next time i'll probably just eat their Kulfi and Halwa.
