Starting a Group on Qatar Living
Last week I posted that we would be launching Groups on Qatar Living. We're ready to beta test this - you should see a link to Groups and to create a group in your navigation (if you are logged in).
Once you've filled out the form to create a group, it will be checked and if the group is accepted it will be created with you as the owner. You'll then get your own group page, be able to invite people and post to the group directly.
Give it a try and let me know if you find any bugs!
UPDATE : Just to make it interesting, the group owner with the most members by 4pm Thursday will will win a QR200 gift voucher (of which half will be split with their most active group contributer!)*
* Terms and Conditions :
- The group must have at least 30 members
- The group must be active (i.e. at least 6 of the people subscribed should have posted something)
- The group owner should not invite people just for the sake of winning - the members should be joining the group because they are interseted in it! (there is no way I can realistically judge this so do the right thing or else you'll have bad karma!)

me2! ...I started a group on Qatar's Fourth Estate, meant for journalists and citizen journalists, like i promised i would. Han19 beat me to being the first, sigh. Always a gilr manages to beat me,hehe.

Photography Group... ...is now up and running.
Anyone feel like posting a pic or joining a weekly/monthly competition then just sign up.
Qatari as per my PM, could you let us know the maximum permissable picture size (most good DSLR pic's are about 2Meg each).

Group Owners ...Please make sure that you group subscription is set properly. They can be set as :
- open - subscription requests are accepted immediately.
- moderated - subscription requests must be approved.
- invite only - subscriptions must be created by an administrator.
- closed - subscriptions are fully administered by an administrato
I suggest using either open or moderated unless there is a reason to limit members (i.e. the group is for your football club or school class)

joining a group ...visit http://www.qatarlivi... and you can subscribe to the groups listed. Sometimes you'll become a member immediately or else the administrator may need to say okay. Depends on how it was setup.
If you are an administrator, click around in your group - you'll be able to invite people and play with settings where you can add others as moderators, etc.

Qatari.... ...Is there away that when i create a social event, that only members of the social group will be able to see it?
Meaning that unless they are approved by myself or Greeker and are subscribers, they won't be able to see the details of get togethers. I noticed that the events is posted on the public forum, and it seems as though there are worry from some ladies that they might be stalked by some of the weirdo's who post here..
I would like to try and not allow the social cretins of this world to spoil things for those of us who have genuine interest in meeting new people for friendship and get togethers.

Groups are nice, but .. ...why I can't accept the people who subscribe to my group as well as I'm an administrator [thanks for the trust Azzy]? The group owner or creator can't by her/himself accept the subscribers, organize events and keeps on checking with every member of the group. So does the group works like that Qatari or the Admins should got some privileges to add people? Whenever I try to accept someone I got the Access Denied Error ...
I know that the situation can be messy if one admin will add someone and the other one will come to delete, but I want to know what can and Admin in a group do?
