My dad served in veitnam and said there was nothing worse than seeing 20 y.o. that had just gone under the chop because of some STD they picked up. This was latter confirmed by my doctor who also served some time in Doctors without borders and had also seen the same thing, he also claimed that even in the west, for certain SYD's and medical issues he was still seeing young and older men that had to have it done. Apparently as you get older its a more painful experiance then when your a baby.

Circumcision has great advantage for men, its protective for STD diseases specially it was proved recently that its preventive of Aids the man who are circumcised have less chance to catch the disease.

actually, circumcision for men prevents the accumulation of a white material (called smegma) underneath the foreskin.
smegma is actually carcinogenic for male and for females (increases incidence of cancer cervix)...

The first person to do Circumcision was Prophet Abraham (as).

I haven't read anything about circumcision having any medical benefits yet. Culturally it has significance in most countries. it is believed to improve self-esteem and gender confidence.

for us filipinos, we treat circumcision as a sign of manhood... children aged 9-12 yrs old or even with babies undergo this process... coz if they don't, they'll just get teased by other boys around them... as for me, religionwise and medicalwise, there's nothing wrong of doing it... and fellas, it really feels good when ur circumsized coz it adds up confidence when you stand in front of your partner when ur doing that thing... u all know what i mean... =)

Apologies, I shouldn't have used the word 'often', since the number of circumcisions carried out for medical reasons is low compared to the number done for religious or cultural reasons, but it's not that rare for someone to be circumcised for medical reasons.

I'd have to agree with their "Circumcision does not prevent" list at the end of the page. It may limit the risk of some of those things, but it definitely doesn't prevent them.

However, referring back to your query to 'doc tallg', if someone has a medical problem that prevents their penis from functioning normally (or could do in the future) then circumcision can resolve the problem (or prevent it from occurring in the future).

anyone who suggests that circumcuision prevents the trandsfer of STD's has not read the actual wording of the research into the study. anyone who considers a circumcision as a method of preventing STD's deserves whatever they catch.

also, there is no STD that requires the removal of a foreskin (have never heard of such a thing)

I dont see any other reason. Of course if you are meticulous in your cleansing routine then whether it is there or not there it doesnot matter. It has nothing to do with STD or sexual performance. How does a piece of skin 1sq.inch affect your performance? Whoever said that above must make a lousy lover.

No body who calls himself muslims can answer why would Allah CLAIM to have made man into a perfect shape and also why not prescribe circumcisn in the BOOK!
Just an ancient practice even before prophet Ibrahim PBUH, that's why he was circumcised (remember he was not born to a muslim family!), then by jews and chiristians as well( who never followed Ibrahim's true religion). So the reality is the muslims are just following Jews and Christianised form of Islam not the actual message as no where Allah prescribed it! In many ways actualy they are upholding Chiristianity more than Islam...so called their own religion. You think muslims were ever circumcised when they converted !!

Also no where it is mentioned in Quran about man being man in perfect shape.

almost 98% of male population in the Philippines are circumsized... i can say it is a custom... but it is more of fulfilling the "manhood" inside us... the medical and religious factors only follow from it...

it depends... there were some instances that the parents let their baby be circumcized after birth... but in general, children do it before they go highschool (age 8-12 yrs old)... we have the option of having it done with a doctor or in a traditional way called "pukpok"... with this kind of circumcision, children usually swim/dip first on a river for 20 mins. until the foreskin gets soft so that it will be easy for a "quack doctor" or anyone in the town area who is known for doing it starts the session... then the children fall in line with guava leaves being chewed in their mouth before facing the person who does it... with a straight razor (used for shaving by barbers) on his one hand and a piece of branchtree (which just fit to handle) on the other, the kid places and spreads out the foreskin into a specially made piece of wood which is adequate to fit in between the head and the foreskin and the ritual goes on... razor is placed in the foreskin and hit by that piece of branchtree he's grasping... and immediately the chewed guava leaves will be placed into the bleeding skincut until it stops bleeding... this is done without any anesthesia or any drugs for it to get numb... some people said that it shouldn't be seen by girls coz it will make your tool to grow into a tomato-size-like throughout the healing process... for me, its normal to grow like that since the wound is large and... IT REALLY HURTS!!! lol...

it normally heals within two weeks with continuous treatment and after that, you will feel like you are a kid no more... that you are already transformed into a grown man coz you can face other kids and shout "tuli na ako!!! (im already circumsized!!!)" with full confidence... that's why i keep on telling that it is a way of fulfilling the "manhood" inside us...

India also have traditional way for circumcision similar to philipines by barber and without any antibiotic or anesthisia.

Please becareful again before quoting the Noble Quran and discussing the religon. the meanings of Surah Tin states the creation of man in best of stature and also read the next line and the next line.

Now for the second issue, The deen e Ibrahim to deen e Mohammad PBUT is nothing but Islam....and the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was sent to extend and concluded the true message of Eissa (PBUH) with the mercy of Allah. A muslim is but a better follower of Eissa (PBUH). Muslims dont bring any difference between the messangers.(From Ibrahim to Mohammad PBUT.
