URGENT ADVISE PLEASE
GYS NEED YOUR ADVISE,
I WAS OFFERED A GRADE 16 JOB AT QP,25000 BASIC 6500 HOUSING, FOR ME,WIFE AND 2 KIDS,I SIGNED THE OFFER WHILE OVERSESE,WHEN I LOOKED AT THE HOUSING ALLOWENCE I FOUND IT IS NOT ENOUGH,COMPANY SAID IN DUKHAN I HAVE A FREE HOUSING?SO DO I ASK TO INCREASE MY HOUSING ALLOWENCE BEFORE MOVING,AND THEY SAID MY SALARY WILL BE FIXED FOR 3 YEARES,IS THIS NORMAL?

If you are on a definite contract your salary will remain the same for the said period. You could have negotiated your salary before signing the contract.

Housing is the same for everyone at QP. At the moment for grade 16 it is 14.1k QR in total. And grade 17 is no different. However, if you are staying in Dhukhan the housing is free.
The salary of 25k is good. Some in grade 16 only make 22k, others make 24k, and someone who has just recently been hired is earning 28k (however they recently earned alot more in the uk hence the better salary), and a one or two others make 30k and above depending on their job experience. I would say most make under 25k QR.
My husband will be doing a grade 17 post however because he lacks 3 years of experience is only allowed grade 16 at the moment. Which is great for us because when one moves a grade the pay is increased by percentage.
I would definately recommend you get everything in writing including the more accurate allowances and ask for the handbook before you leave your country. You need to call HR everyday and bother someone until they actually provide these things.

Shaqalaih. Those salaries I ...Shaqalaih. Those salaries I quoted were for medical officers from the UK. The first 2 were family physicians (GP) with about 6 years or more of experience.
The 28k one is for one who had his own partnership and still chose to go to Qatar. Because of the opp. available in Qatar while the country enhances their primary care services.
In my opinion I would say that you have a good salary and can look forward to alot of potential growth as the country develops. Plus petrol is cheaper then the water ;).
