Teaching in AL MAHA School

bint Mohammad's picture

Salaam all,

I will be moving to Doha, Qatar within the next month or so and have been offered a teaching position at al maha school.

Just wondered if there were any other teachers from the UK who have moved to Qatar and working or will be working for al maha school.

I'd like to know more about the school and what package I should be getting as I am a single mum with kids. I just wanna compare if I'm getting the right package? As I've been told that they won't pay for my kids air fare?

I was told that women can't sponsor their kids on their work iqama? Is this true? Is there a way of getting round this?

Any help or information will be greatful before I sign on the dotted line!

DOn't know much about Al-Maha school's benefit. I had visited the school a few years ago, most of teh staff was locally hired and not paid to maintain a family if you are the only working person in ur family. Getting kids will not be easy either but i reckon its not impossible.

Inaddition to ur salary you shud inquire about housing and its quality.

Hi,

I reside in London and have been offered a teaching position at Al Maha. I was wondering if there's anyone else who's been offered a post there.

Is there anyone who works there? What's it like? I'm finding there process of employing teachers somewhat unprofessional. Has anyone else experienced this?

Elle Belle, it just means you have posted something. Keep posting, more points, more addiction to QL.

yes ,they don't pay the flight for family members! You will have to cover the costs for that.
Also as far as I know you should be able to sponsor your kids without a problem, BUT you will have to cover the costs for the visa for your kids as well.
Al- Maha school has a bad reputation and is not one of the better school, but they working on getting better wa allahu allim. They just had a management change. And they lost a LOT of teachers this year....
the package they offer is at best OK, they let you pay 50% of the school for your kids, maybe they changed that ,you should see to it to get school for your kids for free.
Coming to Doha as a single women is a other story, don't expect to much , it could get hard at some times. For getting around here you need a car , rent one or buy one!
Well I hope that helped a little.....
all the best wishes
