the rest are fine and depends on the specifecations i would recommend you a 1.8 Ghz processor with 2Gb ram is quit good.
Family lan have a nice dell laptop 13.3 inch monitor,
2 Ghz core 2 due processor with 2 GB RAM ..am about to buy one.

So far Toshiba is the top of ...So far Toshiba is the top of the line, they have good price value, their features might not be extra ordinary, since u live in Qatar, but it gurantees quality. Then comes Dell, Dell is also one of the good laptops now a days. You could go for Fujitsu Seimense but the "MADE IN GERMANY" one, they have them around. Sony is just a trademark, expensvie for no reason. Or else get an ASUS, those are brilliant too, if you can get them around here.

Yes HP rocks.. ...I purchased mine at Villagio's Carrefour and even though it has Win Vista preinstalles, it's very fast!!

after that im suffering, i brought it from Canada n im sending it back now.

by the way in office i have dell desktop... and just called IT people because there was some problem in motherboard..

HP and Acer are the worst ...HP and Acer are the worst laptops on earth. One in a million laptop might be good and u guys have it. I had 2 hp laptops, the hardware always had issues, my friend had an hp, same problem, my other friend had one too, his battery died.

It depends upon the user ...No matter what laptop brand you'll be using, if the user doesn't know how to use or maintain it properly, nothing is good.

I got at the moment the ...I got at the moment the following laptops : Sony, Fujitsu Siemens(German Made), 2 HP, Acer, Asus, Macbook.
And best Quality is the Sony and the Fujitsu Siemens.
I've lately also had Toshiba, Dell and Lenovo and would not recommend any of these.
Go for Sony is my recommendations if you go for Windows. But why not try out Macbook, excellent choice .

Being a software engineer ...Being a software engineer and using high-end performance oriented software, I would say ACER has given a good deal for the money I had invested. My new HP DV2395 turned out to be a piece of shit. It goes super hot, hot enough for me to bake vegetables and at times chicken and beef.
Sony, Toshiba are considered top brands who charge more for brand than the product.
It would be a good idea to take the model number of different brands you prefer to buy and check the review on the internet for each of them. Give more importance for heat generated by the Laptop and also make sure the air ventilation is located towards left and right not behind.
Finally don't go behind fancy descriptions about processor, as most commonly you will never use the system to its full performance.

Re:maxmo ...I left my Toshiba on the very hot rooftop for 6 hours turned on with wireless download on this hot month and nothing happens to it...only the download seems fine. XP
