Another Descrimination Act by Rydges --Aussie
Mr Paul et all, sorry could not join you at the Rydges as I was not allowed into the bar by the Security. I arrived at Rydges at around 9.30pm hoping to join my QL buddies at the Bar for a few down downs, but unfortnatey could not get pass the Security guys..Sorry I dont look like a lady nor did I have a lady friend to take me in..
Maybe next time if you gather at the Rydges please arrange a guest list that might help..

Rydges sucks. ...Let me guess, What they told you? Ladies night only? or couples night only? Well my friend, I know, it sucks, but there is other better places than Ridges, Ridges is just a hoodlum with its own creativity of despair.
Unfortunately, a lot of ladies in Qatar, love that place, they claim that the music is good and like any precious resource and commodity of the opposite sex, they get to venture for free. I don't blame them.
Next time be on time around 7:30 or get a membership card. Did you had a chance to look inside,? through the side glass, close to the elevator?, Tell me how many guys were there? Mostly the ratio is 25 guys to 10 ladies in a full night.
Well my friend, like I told you before, there is other and better places, instead of the hoodlum of Rydges.
To the management of Rydges only, Y'all MOFOS, could kiss me, where the sun, won't shine!

Pope Ur absolutely right mate.. ...Even with my English accent I could not convince these guys. After I demanded to see the Manager on duty same like Novi had experience yesterday he said the Manager is Busy. After my a long time these poor old security guys would not give the name or number of their manager and kept on saying that they are just following their management instructions.
Went down stairs to the Lobby to complain, but the customer services manager was not there also. I shall be taking this up with the Management of the Rydges , not that it will have any effect..
I think the holiness pope has already said some nice world abt the management of Rydges I cant say different

I would also like to point out that all the folks who visit these places are in principle also racist as they are endorsing and encouraging racisim. If they stopped visiting these places the management would have to relook at their policies of barring certain ethinic groups from visiting.
So Qlers if you all do abhor rascisim why dont you all make a concerted effort to stop visiting these places so the management will get a wake up call.

sexism ...I think you mean sexism. I went there on my own on Monday night no problem. I tried to go last night, problem. What cracks me up, other than the obvious (that the ratio is bad no matter how hard management tries otherwise), is that it seems many hotel clubs (are there any other?) have a weekend policy of couples and ladies only (just what are single ladies going out for if there are only coupled men available?).
Stopped by the Diplo Tent to see the 24-7 show. It was no MoS venue. I think the promoters have the right idea, they just need to spruce it up a bit and promote a little better. BTW - no couples or single ladies rule in effect there.

I got lucky!! ...I was there at Rydges last night and was stopped for the same reasons as above.But I got lucky as one of the QL members I knew stepped out to go to the ladies room just when I arrived and convinced them that I am not 'DANGEROUS' ..lol

The query I posted on Rydges website... ...I would like to know whether your staff receives any training on how to talk to your customers with any degree of civility.
I went to the Aussie Legends bar last night and the man at the door told me it was ladies and couples only, so I stepped back to call my friend who had went inside before me. At the same time I saw, more than once, single guys walking in without the doorman as much as giving them a glance.
So I asked your man, "Doesnt the rule apply to them?" He gave me a stern look and said, "I know how to do my job and I'm telling you cant go in."
I said " I'm sure you do, but I dont get your point". He comes back with a downright rude " Why are you asking questions? "
Now, I am quite fine IF you do not want bachelors of some particular ethnicity to enter your bar, (after all its your establishment) but I am not fine with being spoken to like I'm something that crawled out from under a rock. If you are telling your personnel to refuse entry to any kind of people, I am sure it won't hurt to tell them to do it in a more cultured manner.
I did not further take up the point with the man because its not his fault if his organisation (which,is in the hospitality(!!!) business) does not train him on how to talk to their visitors.

It's a well known fact that Aussie Legends operates a females and couples only policy after 9pm, and I've seen men from every walk of life get turned away.
Racism is indeed rife in Qatar, but it isn't the issue in UKEngQatar's story.

Tallg I second your motion my unfortunate event last night was about Sexism in General, however I also saw murky feel of Racism (but cant be sure for certain). Well I am from the UK born and bred, however my family came from Mauritius to UK abt 56 years ago. So my Skin Colour is tan brown, I also had an American friend with me we got the same treatment.
Now Vegas you keeping on mentioning I should have been before 9pm, Mate I have sobered up now and realise that we were in fact there before 9pm, and the security guy was saying that we should have been there around 6pm. Who to beleive you or Mohammed the Security Guard.
So in conclusion you can go the Aussie Legend bar if your a single bloke, but have to go around around 6pm on a Thursday. Am I that desperate?
Honey we also ended up in the Irish Harp and a great time. what clothes were you wearing and where were standing or sitting might have seen you.
QL and Mr Paul, I kindly request that in future if there is an event of this nature please inform the forum of the do and donts so QLers are fully aware what to expect when they arrive there, no one is confused or disappointed.
