First Qatar Living Photo Shoot - The Winner Is...

The Qatar Living Photography Group (managed by the truth 321) organised the first ever Qatar Living Photo Shoot. The theme of the competition was "Sports City" and members of the group got together to go and shoot photos around Khalifa Stadium.
I was given the honour of judging the contest which was no easy task! I've spent the entire weekend looking at all the wonderful submissions trying to select one. So, without further delay I bring you the winning picture which was taken by Rikkya (Bridge)

It was a tough choice since there were lots of great photos (all the great entries can be found in the bottom of this post)
Rikkya will be getting a shiny new Flickr Pro account courtesy of Qatar Living! Well done!
P.S. If you're interested in photography, why not join the Photography Group? You'll find a great group of people who are keen photographers and keen to help you improve your photos! And who knows, maybe you'll win this months contest.

Great Shot! ...I do like that shot myself. Well done Rikkya.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Wow, thanks! ...Wow, thanks! This was my first QL outing, so it's extra great to have won something.
So now my thank you's... To my mom, who bought me my first camera, to my sister, who willingly posed as a model when we were young, to Canon for teaching me all about camera technology, to my teachers who never stopped critising my work, to QL for making this possible, to the members of the QL photography group for making this shoot such a great experience, to truth321 in particular, for organizing the shoot, and to Dan for giving me the idea to shoot the tower and moon, to my hamster and goldfish for always being there for me... ;)
On a serious note, had a great time with this shoot, and hope to see you all at the next one (a nightshoot that I guess I will now have to organize, about 3 weeks from now?)

Camera - Canon EOS 350D ...I've recently switched to the Canon EOS 350D (digital SLR), and I quite like the results so far. Most of these pics were shot with a Sigma lens (100-400 mm, 4 ft). Since there's so much light in Qatar, it's pretty easy to get shots of the moon... As long as you have a telelens and shoot at around 800 ISO you can take 'm without a tripod.
