Next QL Photoshoot - 23 June

Bridge's picture

Hey guys!
After a very succesful first shoot, it's my pleasure to announce the second QL/Flickr photoshoot on Saturday 23 June. This time we'll be doing a night-shoot, not just because it's impossible to shoot during the day in this weather, but also because there's some great nighttime shots that are just waiting to be captured!
I'm thinking of the Corniche as a location, for it's obvious charme, but if you have any better suggestions, please post them here. I'll announce the final meetup place and time a couple of days in advance on this board. (meeting time probably around 19.00).
The meeting is open to any photography enthousiasts (beginners and fanatics, all types of cameras though some sort of time-setting on your camera may help at night...). We'll organize a competition again, and everyone will be invited to submit photos through Flickr:

If you would like to have more details, or would like to attend, send me a PM and I'll keep you updated :)
In the meantime, feel free to post more pictures to QL through Flickr or on this site!

It would be great to see what a night shoot at the tradition souqs would look like.

Great! Will try to check out the Souq sometime soon to see if it's a suitable location. Might be a bit tricky at night if there's not much light around... I've not been there yet (day or night) so I'll have a look. Thanks for the suggestion!

I dont think i would be able to come. The reason is safety things. My husband wont be able to come with me because he have to work early the next day ... and i am not comfortable walking alone down the corniche in the night time trying to find the rest of the group.

Could be fun. Should I have my own tripod. If so, can someone suggest a store for a cheap, stable, yet light-weight one?

Bridge said Tripod ...

Just got myself a new tripod at the Virgin store (at Villagio). Costed 150 QR, but is quite good. I especially like the fact that it has a small plastic base that you can attach to your camera and easily take off to make it easy to switch between using/not using the tripod.
Having a tripod will be very convenient for shooting at night, but you can shoot without (either share tripods during the shoot or use very high ISO values for shooting)

I think the Corniche is quite safe, I've walked around there by myself a couple of times and often run into other women walking alone. And we'll still meet quite early, and of course we'll keep an eye on you!
That being said, if you don't feel comfortable, I completely understand that you want to give it a go. Unfortunately it's too hot to meet earlier, so there's not much choice :(

thank you ... might take up on your offer, but would like to know where bridge decided to meet up. Probably not that quiet place afterall. Somewhere the same place near the dhow trip last time was quite busy area i think.

thanks xxx (will let you know near the time).

Bridge said Meet up next QL Photoshoot: Time and Location ...

Hi all,
Let's meet up at the little Nescafe booth at the start of the Corniche (close to the Sheraton) on the 23rd of June at 19.00. Send me a PM if you'd like to have my cell number to make sure that you can find me. I'll be there from seven onwards, with a big Canon and tripod. Should be hard to miss ;)

Bridge said Location and time for next shoot ...

I've been getting some questions about the place and time, so here's a more detailed explanation...
We'll meet up on Saturday 23 June at 19.00h at the Nescafe booth at the start of the Corniche. The Corniche starts at the Sheraton hotel, and right after the playground, on the round square where the Corniche starts, there's a small coffee booth. I'll be there a bit before seven, with a Canon and a tripod (hard to miss...). Send me a PM for my number in case you're afraid to miss us.
See you!
