*** Shia and Sunni Prayers ***
Can I follow Sunni prayer rules on a shiya masjid?? It was a confusion, when I entered in to a masjid where, they are following shia rules:) (praying with a round piece of white stone in the sujud place) Is there any difference in prayers in these 2??

On a practical daily level, Shias have a different call to prayer, they perform wudu and salat differently including placing the forehead onto a piece of hardened clay from Karbala, not directly onto the prayer mat when prostrating. They also tend to combine prayers, sometimes worshipping three times per day instead of five. The Shias also have some different ahadith and prefer those narrated by Ali and Fatima to those related by other companions of the Prophet (pbuh). Because of her opposition to Ali, those narrated by Aisha count among the least favored. Shia Islam also permits muttah - fixed-term temporary marriage - which is now banned by the Sunnis. Muttah was originally permitted at the time of the Prophet (pbuh) and is now being promoted in Iran by an unlikely alliance of conservative clerics and feminists, the latter group seeking to downplay the obsession with female virginity which is prevalent in both forms of Islam, pointing out that only one of the Prophet's thirteen wives was a virgin when he married them.
In short, if you happen to be a Sunni Muslim, do follow the Sunni Prayer very common in Qatar in all most all the Masjids, if you happen to be a Shia then you may follow Shia praying format.

Thank you IMI... ...Thanks a lot, since in my country there is no shias. But the informations was really helpful to understand it well. I'm following sunni laws.. but, it was confusing once i went inside. Is there anyway to identify the difference in majids from outside?? And... can I perform my prayer as a sunni muslim if i enter inside by mistake?

gfxmad, u can pray wherever ...gfxmad, u can pray wherever u want, when we go to city center, we also pray at the mosque there. A mosque is Allah's place, not a Shia or Sunni thing there.
Look at it this way "the world is one, God is also one, just different ways of worshiping". Which country do you come from anyway?

You are most Welcome. ...The pleasure is all mine, From what I know and understand Shia Masjid's look allot different from a Sunni Masjid, the only way i know for identification is the call for prayer. The Azan of the Shia Masjid is slighty different from the Sunni Azan. You will hear the name of Imam Ali as well as of Mohammed (Pbuh) in the Azan. Also you will see like what you have seen the Karbala (Clay stone) at the place of the sujud.
Anyway if you happen to be in qatar, 98% Masjids's here are Sunni Masjids and there a few Shia Masjid's that I know of but unfortunately never had the chance to go and see what's inside.

No need ...gfxmad, no need to be a afraid of anything. If you have to be afraid of anything it should only be the Almighty Allah. The war between Sunni & Shia is more common in Iraq, Pakistan these days. Qatar is a very peaceful and harmonius place, if you still happen to enter a shia masjib by mistake no harm. But bear in mind thier performance of prayer also differs from Sunni's you might get lost.
I hope your doubts are sloved for the moment, And also like thexonic mentiond, its correct and i agree with him.

what u said was full of crap and ignorant, cuz Shia call to prayer does have Prophet (saws)'s name in it and Imam Ali (3)'s name in it as well. So get your mind right.

Gfxmad, as long as u dont do ...Gfxmad, as long as u dont do something wrong, nothing will happen. Now if u go to a shia mosque and start telling them something wrong like "we dont say Prophet (saws)'s name in the adhan" then ofcourse u will get slaughtered, but if u go there and pray to Allah and be nice to people and have an open mind and not be ignorant, u will be accepted and respected everywhere not just in shia mosques.

Sorry for sure you maybe some better Shia Imam yourself I am a sunni muslim. Just to correct you yes i have heard the Shia Adhan ofcourse here in Qatar, as well as on TV and as well as on YouTube, and even now once again on youtube to correct my ignorance.
There is need for you to give me a your Highly TOXIC replies, i know you maybe some smart Guru yourself, but nothing in my message was offending. I have lots of shia friends and we are happy in our own ways. You can be kind enough to correct someone in a polite manner.
And also in conclusion, I have a open mind, now dont tell me a Shia adhan can be heard only a shia masjid.

IMI, well most people do try ...IMI, well most people do try to start up a false propaganda by saying such things. Apology accepted, sorry for my rudeness. I do tend to get aggressive when anyone tries to say something false what I follow. U must be one of the thousand people who actually came forward, but there are alot of people who say stuff like this to ruin the image of shiaism. I'm not a Shia imam, but I do come from a family who has shia imams. Hope more people were as smart as u rather than being ignorant and spreading bullocks about shiaism.

It's alright to pray in ...It's alright to pray in their mosque, however you should pray during Sunni times if you are sunni.
