Hi again everyone - hope all is well!!
Looks like I have to make a decision.....I may well be offered a teaching job at Newton International school in the next week or so.

Can you all help me please??

I have been offered QR9100 plus accommodation/utilites all paid and included.
I am an English, well qualified teacher, and my wife may also be offered a position as a teaching assistant for about QR3500.

I have been told that shopping per month will normally cost around 800-100 QR per month (we have no kids).....entertainment, pubs etc...around QR500 per month...IS THIS REALISTIC???...Having read so many different blogs/stories,..am totally confused....
WILL someone help??...CAN someone help??...All comments equally appreciated in every way...
Many thanks,

RP

First make sure your accommodation/ utilities/ transportation(?)/ and medical, are 100% paid by your employer.

Out of pocket a couple would spend a minimum of 3000 QAR/m for groceries, some dining and outings, ADSL ISP, and some shopping, depending on your lifestyle. Realistically, the number should be around 4000 QAR/m for an average couple. The unspent balance is your saving. Good luck!

Try to inquire Qatar International School. http://www.qis.org/
we we're told by one of the teacher there who's married to Filipina. (who said she's also a teacher there.) that they are earning 50,000 Dollars a year each, which is more or less 15,000 Qatari Riyals a month each (more or less) + all the benefits. Good luck!

No your offer is not way too low. For a basic teacher in Doha (or a substitute teacher), regardless of the level of teaching, number of hours in the classroom, subject, age, qualifications, degrees etc., the minimum pay is about 450 to 500 QAR/day (multiply that by 22 working days/m). Teacher's assistant, pays close to nothing.

Now depending on the institution, private, public, language school, American or British Schools, etc., salary can vary between 12000 to 15000+. At some schools such as the American High School, teachers are required to spend more than 8 hours a day on the premises.

Then you have to fight to get your allowances for housing/ transportation/ holiday tickets and medical fully paid by your employer. Good luck.

actually, they say many things rather than make it happen

many people came Qatar and hoped they will get that, what

their company promished.

but when they came and starts working their company broke their

promise

so,think about it before taking any decision
