Starting a business in Qatar

I have read and posted questions on starting a business in Qatar and they haven't received many answers so far. I thought maybe a forum will work better. Get more attention, answers, etc.
So, who can help us people who want to start a business in Qatar?
(Where) do you have to register?
Do you always need a Qatari sponsor, even if you're on a family visa?
Does the size of the business make any difference to how you have to run it?
Is there an 'official' place where we can get information in English?
If you have answers to any of these questions or a studio or office space to rent out, please make yourself known on this forum. Hopefully we'll have some interesting discussions here soon.
Thanks to everybody in advance.

U do need a Qatari ...U do need a Qatari sponsor.
One way is u can run the business under the sponsors name and give him a reasonable monthly pay.
Another way is u make it W.L.L that is Qatari gets 51% and u get 49%
U can contact some companies , they will give u information in english and they will complete all the procedure to start ur business..u can find in Gulf Times.
Starting business is a good idea, hope u have a good amount to give as KEY money.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)

best place ...Best place for information it the Chamber of Commerce, and you do need a Qatari Sponsor.
Depending on what you are looking for office space is very expensive you may want to think about sharing.

Business in Qatar. ...Salaamz
Hi
I am new to Qatar I have heard of a law reqarding 100% Foreign Ownership but legal advisors told me to better go for Qatari Sponsership because it takes 20-25 days for forming a LLC company in Qatar. We have to deposit 200,000Qrs in a bank a/c which can be latter used for company affairs etc. and about 30-40 grands for legal documentation and expenses. Some Qatari's prefer percentage in profits and some prefer fixed charges for sponsorship. It basically depends a lot on the type of business and your expertise. If you are not totally confident with what you are doing go for a profit sharing sponsor who will get you good business leads and contacts in a way helping you get business. If you know your business profitability and think you can pull it off all by yourself here in Qatar than go for a qatari ready with fixed sposorship charges, who will mind his own things and leave you alone with your business.
Real estate is exhorbitantly expensive in Qatar for sure. You have to hunt a lot to find a good deal.
After everything else in business it is very important How well you negotiate. And trust me Arabs are tough to negotiate so be 100% prepared with bargain skills and uptodate homework.
Khalid.
