Regarding Beach Tower, west bay
Just to share my experience with others...
I came to Doha two months a go and after visiting many places in Doha, I decided to move to Beach tower in west bay.
Though it has a very nice look and good finishing, this tower is a hell. All materials are very cheap. I dont mind to say that the builder or owner is a thief and they did their best to finish it with minimum budget.
From the time we moved in, we had problem with almost everything. I mean EVERYTHING, from small to serious issues. I cant count them, just to prove, when you go to the lobby of this Tower, probably for a visit, just ask the janitor to show you the list of maintenance requests of the day. Then you will leave for sure.
SO, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ACCOMMODATION IN WESTBAY AREA, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BEACH TOWER.

I'm yet to visit, or even ...I'm yet to visit, or even hear about, any well built tower in Doha. It's remarkable none of them have fallen over yet.

There have been improvements ...There have been improvements in the quality of certain towers in West Bay, where the owners have bought in Western Project Management companies, however this is not the majority. Most owners leave it too late, and LincolnPirate said it perfectly...pay peanuts, get monkeys....frankly, if the organ grinder paid for proper workmanship it would cause a lot less problems in the long term and create a far better investment...still, taking a long term view on investment's is not a strength here!

I have replaced the door handle of my office at least 3 times as someone kept buying cheap crap and it kept breaking. Instead of spending twice as much on a quality bit of kit, we have now spent 3.5 times as much and thrown 2 broken handles away.
BTW, check out Al Emadi - VERY good construction. They seem to actually CARE about their property :o)

Yes, cheap products. I have ...Yes, cheap products. I have to say that the staff are very nice and supportive. The problem is the construction and the material quality. I can't give you an example. As I said, almost everything. To prove, just go to the reception of this tower, ask for the maintenance request list and take a look to the residents complains and requests. Then, you will be convinced. I guess you have the right to see this list.

one of the major problem is the walls and roof. Seems they are made from paper, and you can easily hear when your neighbors talk. At early morning, you can not sleep, if your neighbor just moves/slides its breakfast table or seats cause the sounds echo in your bedrooms.

what quality? ...it's well known in the building construction business here, That very few owners hire fit-out contractors once the building's skeleton is constructed. in the contrary they hand out the work partially to cheap freelance technicians, flooring foreman, electricians, carpenters, etc

I am writing this from my ...I am writing this from my apartment in Beach Tower. Liked it so much we upgraded from a 1 to 2 bedroom accomodation. Ok, the fixtures and fittings are not top quality, but for the location, and price, it doesn't cost too much to add the little extras to turn the place into a home. The maintenance book in reception contains everything from a blown light bulb (ceilings are so high a ladder is needed to change them) to fridges not working. If you check the maintenance log also check out how quick things re fixed, usually very quick. Not disputing anything the Op has said, I just have not experienced the same in my 10 months here, guess I am just lucky!
