Cheaper Electronics Market
hi
i have been getting conflicting replies from people regarding the price of electronics that can be purchased cheaply around the world. Some say Dubai is cheap market, Some say Singapore , Some say thailand and Some Kuala Lumpur? Which do you think is the right one ? Need some insight in this regard.

it all depends what kind of ...it all depends what kind of Electronics you are looking for. If it is top end Cameras, the US is the obvious choice, same for computers. Singapore is not cheap anymore, KL is cheaper and an obvious choice for asians to purchase Cameras and Computers, but pt. more expensive than the US.
Thailand is not that Cheap, what is cheap is fakes, sold as real. Dubai is Cheaper than Doha, but not much and far more expensive than the US or Cheap Asian Spots.
Also some electronics might be cheap in Europe, but you need to shop around.
What you normally do is to purchase where you live or travel frequently to get the Warranty, World Guarantee/Warranty is not normally easily utilized.
so how do I know this you would ask ?
Simply because I love electronics, travel around the world and spend to much money.

You read my mind ...I am looking for cameras especially DSLR's and I dont think there are fake Canon's or nikon's floating around in the market.

I bought my camera in KL, ...I bought my camera in KL, computer gadgets in Singapore, and a laptop in Bangkok during holidays. None of the prices beat the US but it was in front of me and convenient. With places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart in the US buying in huge bulk for 300 million Americans it's hard to beat them on price. But when I figured in shipping cost the savings weren't always that great. Also, I must say if you are in Seoul, South Korea go to the Yongsan Area. The electronic mall at Yongsan Station has the most cameras on one floor than I've ever seen and prices are pretty good. Though Japanese brands are bit pricier. I can say laptop prices in Doha are cheaper than what I saw as a whole in SE Asia.But, I did hear but have not been to an Electronics mall or area on the outskirts of KL that is supposed to have some really great deals. This might be clarified by a Malaysian or Expat familiar with KL. OK best of luck
