Anatomy of an Air Crash
Got this in my mailbox forwarded by a friend. This might be oldie for some, but I haven't seen or read about it before. Not about the crash but about the true story behind the crash. Can't say if it's made up either. Tried to Google it and couldn't find much except that authorities are 'investigating reasons for crash'. Make up your mind! :P

The brand spanking new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sat in its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) on November 15, 2007 to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.
The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is.
The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc.) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm.
This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air.
The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on.
Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power20setting, so the $200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it.
The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out.

Since when are news items ...Since when are news items suppressed because they may be considered insulting to certain people? If it had been UK pilots would it be deemed insulting to the British to release the story?
The story is only insulting to Arabs if it's worded in the way this article is.

Delivery of an aircraft is done at the airlines hub which is abudhabi, and not at the Airbus ramp at Toulose.
The aircracft will be flown by the Airbus crew for delivery. Its not a Toyota corolla to go to the showroom take it and drive home. Niether its a washing machine to operate reading its manual.LOL
This was happned during a predlivery test by Airbus crew.

Nine persons on board an Airbus 340-600, due for delivery to UAE carrier Etihad Airways, were injured when the aircraft sustained airframe damage at the manufacturer's headquarters in France, the company said.
Nine persons had sustained injuries in the accident, a press release by Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad said.
"Etihad Airways has been made aware of an incident involving an Airbus A340-600 type aircraft at the manufacturer's headquarters in Toulouse in France today," the release said on Thursday.
"We understand the aircraft was undergoing pre-delivery engine tests and sustained airframe damage as a result of the incident. No Etihad Airways staff has been involved in this incident," it said.
The aircraft was scheduled to be delivered to Etihad Airways next week.

Well the story never said ...Well the story never said that Etihad crew were involved in anyway. They're talking about ADAT (Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies).
I did more search on this and from the link below. It says that there were no Etihad employees involved in update 2. However update 3 does mention of one crew involved from ADAT.

/-a-t-/ arien get your facts right, although there are no Etihad crew involved. the aircraft mentioned cannot be flown on international airspace as the aircraft doesn't have any registration yet. plus the french authority needs to issue first an export Certificate of Airworthiness first before the Aviation authority of UAE issue a Certificate of Registration and a Certificate of Airworthiness.

The airline has to send staff to receive and test the aircraft. In this case as previously mentioned it was staff from Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies who were representing Ethiad in Toulouse.
Although the incident took place almost a year ago the full story is yet to be released. This is due to Etihad asking Airbus to keep any conclusion or results from the investigation to be kept between the two companies.

/-a-t-/ arien wrong information again! its not form ICAO, but from the National Aviation Authority (NAA) of the State of Design. in this case the French DGAC will be the one to issue the Export C of A. but this certificate alone will not authorise you to fly the aircraft into an International Airspace. so the NAA of UAE which is the GCAA will be the one to issue the Cerificate of Registration and the Certificate of Airworhtiness. please read the ICAO Annexes to the Chicago Convention first.

What a load of xenophobic b0ll0cks. ...You should be ashamed of yourself for posting such a clearly racist article. A few facts, if you had bothered to look.
1. The A340 has been in service since 1991. The pilots would have been well versed in this aircraft. Thousands of flight hours before they are let loose on an aircraft.
2. The pilots were french from airbus.
3. 7 ADAT employees were on board to do quality checks.
The idea that people are given a manual and expected to learn how to fly an aircraft by reading it is so laughable that I cant even begin to comment on such an idiotic statement.
What story are you going to post next? Jack the Ripper was an Arab and that he killed all those women because Allah told him to?

what garbage ...for a start, the largest passenger plane is the airbus 380, and the first one was only recently delivered to singapore airlines. the 340 has been in service for many years, so many pilots are familiar with it.
and as stated by well i never, no pilot touches any modern day airliner without being fully trained and familiar with every aspect of it.
this story is pretty ridiculous.
