Hello Mr Paul,

If you want any assistance let me know...I have some British friends living in Morocco :)

MR PAUL said Well rabie36, my main thoughts are about getting from ...

Casablanca to Rabat (and back) by train, and the standard and availability of hotels in rabat.

Are the trains reliable ? I got a list of times from the ONC website, so i can work out a time to head back to Casa. for my flight, but if the trains are rubbish then i may miss my flight.

And i heard the Ibis hotel and the Sofitel in Rabat are pretty good, do ya have any ideas ?

Rabie36 said Hi ...

Well, Rabat is close to Casablanca (about 80 Km) but the train would take around an hour travel! There is usually a train that links the 2 cities every 30 minutes...I won't tell you it's 100% reliable, but you should allow enough time to the "unexpected" . Trains, however, is far more better than any other means of transport(and one more important thing: purchase a 1st class ticket).

The hotels you mentioned are both good. Maybe the Sofitel is better, but I recommend the Ibis because it has the advantage of being close to the railway station(Rabat-Agdal Station).

If you need more information don't hesitate to contact me:)

Cheers

... trains are more or less reliable.

Why you go to Rabat and Casablanca?
Marraquesh and Fez are the principal touristic places.

Merzouga is well known too as it is the gate to Sahara desert - this little village was normally part of the Paris-Dakar (but, cmon! after Sealine in Qatar, Merzouga will be nothing new).

And of course, the absolutely star in moroccan tourism is Chefchaouen for well known reasons :-)

Voyageress said Mr P, I went to ...

Morocco many times when I lived in Marbella. I changed trains once in Rabat but felt a heck of a lot safer once I'd got to Marrakesh!! Essouiera is a must-see and there are some wonderful places further south. Some friends of friends run a surf shop on the west coast where it's fun to hangout, eat cheap (but wonderful) food, watch the sunsets on the beach and forget all about the traffic problems in Doha!

Mandilulur said I loved Morocco, Marrakesh ...

I loved Morocco, Marrakesh is a city like no other. That said, it's not everyone's cup of tea. One tends to feel a bit overwhelmed by the constant - not always positive - attention. And may I say, Marhabtain, you are pretty special yourself! You always make me smile. Igmar and Idi indeed.
