Spanish and Dutch researchers quizzed 549 men and women to rate how jealous they felt and to identify the qualities that made them feel the most insecure.

I think you have to give ...I think you have to give this some thought...where do you find (in europe, for example) most short men? In the south...where they have a reputation for jealousy...... so, there could be some truth to this....

It may be true in European ...It may be true in European societies, but then , as the research says, tallness usually leads to self confidence..
What about in Asian societies where men are shorter on average..
I think the psychologist summed it up best ...
"One of the key components is self-esteem and obviously height is related to this but then so may other characteristics such as baldness.
"Another key element is how strong the relationship is."

Britexpat- not sure Tom is the best example to advocate short men- nice in Top Gun but if he didn't crash the plane (which would account for alot), he should have. He just wouldn't let it lie.

In the Qube you will be stared at if your 1.65 m. It's pretty "relative". Which reminds me of a lovely incident near the Sheraton. We stayed at the small sandy Island and one of our friends, a Sudanese, stood in the water up to his breast holding his can of beer in his hand. I think men shorter than 5'5" or 1.65m are graded short.

I am 5'10 and considered ...I am 5'10 and considered average by Western standards, I do feel dwarfed in some places in Europe though.
I think it is bs to say short people try to compensate for their height because it would be like arguing that lanky tall people try to compensate for their skinniness, or any other sized person for any other perceived flaw they might have.

I often try to compensate ...I often try to compensate for my skinniness by walking around with my chest puffed out and arms spread slightly wider than usual. I have also been known to wrap towels round my thighs under my trousers to make my legs a bit fatter.
In all seriousness though Scotiabank, people are forever trying to compensate for their perceived flaws. That's how certain elements of the cosmetics and medical industries make all their money! Weight loss pills, bulk-up powder, skin colouring cream, anti-wrinkle anti-cellulite & eye-lifting cream, etc etc.
Oh, and btw, you're all short from my perspective!

It's always something.... ...I'm about 1.82 meters...used to be very heavy (140 + kgs)...now i'm ok at 90 kgs....we also have no baldness in the family, but we all go grey early....so at around 30 I started and am almost completely grey now (at 35)....so there's always something to complain about lol
But if you are not happy with who you are, then you will always find something to be jealous about....in the end it does nothing anyway, so there is no point...
Remember the 2 rules to a stress free life:
1) Don't sweat the small stuff....
and most importantly....
2) It's ALL small stuff LOL
