School waiting lists in Qatar

Dear All,
My family is planning to move to Doha in August.
I realize that the time is too close with the school new term (september)
And after reading this forum I also found out that maybe my 6 years and 5 years children will be difficult to find place in any school, because a long list of waiting list :).
However, I remember that someone mentioned that some company may have a place in the school that they've been sponsored (am I correct ?)
Can anybody tell me, what school is sponsored by Rasgas ?
(beside AKIS - because we will not be staying in Al Khor)
It's really makes me nervous to imagine that my children can not go to school for a year (what a bad mommy).
Or if someone do home schooling, can I take my children to your place...pleaseeeee :) ?
Look forward to hear from all of you.
Thank you.

What A Bad Mommy ...If you really were a bad mother, you would not even bother trying to find school places for your children. The only real advice I have for you is to keep trying, as spaces do pop up from time to time, even when the school secretary has told you that there is no chance whatever. If one school says no, try asking them, "Well, have you haeard of anywhere that might have places?"

cedars? ...Cedars is for drop outs and children with learning problems.
RasGas funds for Doha College...

"Drop outs and children with learning problems" ...Dear skanza,
Aren't you being a bit harsh? What about parents who have been told that the school's waiting list has been "closed"? What other options are there?

Try Newton International ...Try Newton International School. They allways have places and it's located on West Bay Area, or maybe QIS.
If you're not british passport holder don't loose your time trying to apply to DESS.
Good luck.

School waiting lists in Qatar ...There are many schools here in Doha sponsored by Rasgas. But according to Rasgas policy, if there is the school that running with the father country curriculum, the kids have to go to that school. Like for indian's, their kids have to go to Indian stream. Pakistani's to Pakistan school. But if your kids speak english fluently American School of Doha (ASD)is not very hard to get in, since Rasgas in the main sponsor for the ASD new building seems the school give kind of priority to the Rasgas kids. ASD is wonderful school. I send my kids to that school as well.
Or try Cambridge (its ok), EMS ( not very good),Doha college ( British stream, very good).
Good luck

Thank you gals... ...I really appreciate all the support and information...
facing a new world which so far away from hometown
and all the new things really makes me nervous...
But this QL really a great help...
And my mandatory reading during this week.. :P
Regarding the school..
I have seen this cedars web (From Novita info a few weeks ago.. Thks)
They didn't mention it's for children with learning problem...
but yes, it's makes me curious why only less students and almost double tuitions fee.. maybe true it's for kids with problems..
If I can choose of course I want a better place for the kids...
the normal environment... :)
But, maybe I don't have much option...
So I will apply for the waiting list anyway, and have this cedars as back up in case I didn't get the place...
And sure I will give my priority to this Rasgas's sponsored schools. just try my luck ...( or my kids luck... :P )
However, we're Indonesian, so English is not our mother languange
Therefore I send my kids for english class everyday (which almosts makes the parent bankrupt ... :P)
Any other idea for me... ?
Really appreciate your help gals...

English ...Dear Agietra,
When I was teaching at a school near Cairo, almost all of my students spoke Arabic as their first language. Since the language in the classroom was different to what the children naturally spoke in the playground, this did lead to some problems and difficulties.
At my present school, The British School of Bucharest, we have children from many different nationalities (Romanian, French, German, Chinese, Turkish, British - and that is just in my Year 5 class!) Therefore it is quite natural for the children to speak English to each other, as it is the only language they all have in common. The standard of both the written and spoken English at my present school is very high, perhaps even better than what one would expect to find in many schools in the U.K.
I would recommend you to send your children to an international school, not to a school where all of the children come from the same country and speak the same language. I think that it would be a wonderful thing for your children to have friends from different countries.

Agietra, Pl. don't worry. ...Agietra, Pl. don't worry. The same situation I faced last year. I came here in 3rd week of Aug. Where ever I went, they said " We 're fully booked with long waiting list". But within 15 days I got admission for my daughter in the school of my choice. I think at present many new families are arriving and many parents trying to change school for their kids at the end of the academic year. So everyone applies to more than one school to get in, in any case. Even school's admin. doesn't know till the parents pay fee for the next school year. So keep checking schools of your choice and inshaAllaah you will get admission for your kids

What does "full" really mean? ...I have read that lots of schools in Doha say that they are full or even that there is no space on the waiting list, but does this really mean that they will be saying the same thing in September? If lots of parents put their children's names down for many different schools, then presumably there are going to be quite a few places available in September. I would be interested in reading about parents' experiences (and frustrations?) with regard to trying to find school places.
As a teacher, I think that it is a healthy thing when parents are able to make real choices about their chldren's education. However, if all of the schools say that they are full and have long waiting lists, any notion of "choice" for parents seems to be a mirage.

School lists ...Hello Ladies
I placed a post on the Family Life in Qatar thread about this about 45 minutes ago. We have same problem, have noted comments above.
Advice so far has been try to find a school near where you live as traffic is horrendous. How horrendous? Worse than Dubai? worse than Istanbul or Dubai.
We shall be living in the senior married flats for the Hamad Hospital so will need a school within reasonable commuting distance.
Frustrated Dad.

hi malaboman, ...I have sent a few emails to schools...
because I can't get the online form for admission.
But, Doha college and ASD replied my email, they tell me to check again in Mid August, maybe there's some opening, then I get get into waiting list :).
Small possibility, but still there's hope... :P

Cedars Services ...Skanza - For the four hundred and forty children who have been through Cedar's doors since it opened in 2003, that statement is rather cruel.
In my opinion, Cedars is a special place for everyone, regardless of race, creed, colour, intelligence and background. Cedars optimises each student's potential, whether it be for a short period of time while they are on waiting lists for local schools, or for a longer period of time because it's the right choice for them.
There is no such thing as a drop out. Just somebody who needs time to find direction. Skanza, I don't think you've found your direction yet. If you need help, call Cedars. You're welcome to visit anytime and ask the parents and children themselves what they think.

cedars ...Cedars is a small school which is steadily growing. The children study the UK National curriculum according to their age and stage. It is open to ALL children, and....... is not for dropouts!! Many of the children do move on (reluctantly) to other bigger schools,(sometimes after a long wait!)
However, many decide to stay and make excellent progress in their social and academic development.
Have a look on the website!
