Opportunities in Qatar
Hi,
I am very keen to relocate to Qatar with my wife and 2 young children. I hear Qatar is a good place to raise kids? My wife is a newly qualified teacher and would be happy to consider working as a teaching assistant or possibly private tutoring.
My current role in the U.K. is a Human Resources Manager and I would like to secure a position at the same level. I have started applying to a few vacancies but have not been successful with the same reason being given of not having experience within the Middle East or that the H.R. departments are being restructured and therefore the position will be placed on hold.
I would really appreciate any advice on how I can best go about securing a position and whether anyone can point me the right direction in terms of employers or recruitment agencies please.

Anyway, I think you have a better chance of securing a position here as an HR personnel and your wife as a teacher if she is a native English speaker. Jobs through recruitment agencies are not very common here, the better option would be to go through agencies that are in overseas placement, locally. Other option that people normally explore and most of the time succeed is all those recruitment websites focused to cater the Gulf job market. Byte.com, Gulf Talents.com, QatarVisitors.com etc are some of them which you can browse regularly, they advertise loads of local openings.
You can also access qatcom.com (The Qatar yellow pages directory) to find a list of companies and their websites. Most companies advertise their current openings under "Career" link.
Some 'adventurous' job seekers also visit the country on a visit visa and normally succeed in bagging one within a month or two.

the kind of place where the ...the kind of place where the mercury for about half the year is in the mid 40's with humidity hovering in the 80's-90's which means it's too hot & humid for most adults to step out let alone kids going out & playing,which means they're indoors glued to the playstation & the cable tv...the kind of place of where one has to wait indefinitely to get a place /-a-t-/ one of the better schools because there are so few of them(i mean good/decent schools not just schools),the kind of place that so severely lacks public parks that the 2 & a half that there are gets jammed packed with people thereby really defeating the purpose of a park, i.e green,wide open spaces for kids to run around...yup DEFINITELY sounds like 'a good place to raise kids'!!!...now, if you're interested in putting up with all this & a LOT more,there is the opportunity to earn a high(depending on where you find employment) tax-free income...& that my friend is the ONLY reason anyone would want to & does come here...good luck!...

I Agree ...I 100% agree , qatar i s a very safe place to raise to your kids.Specially you are a UK citizen u will not face any difficulties in finding a good school for your kids.For your wife there is a good chance to get in to a Birtish school.They pay you very well.In the mean time you can come and find a job.
yeh it is hot in summer...........but u get use to it with the time.....
you can easily get a good villa so your children will be able to play and get along.No DRUGS NO GUNS NO CHILD ABUSE in schools. so i guess it is a safe place to raise your kids.
and of course NO TAXES.so defenitly you will benifit from your salary.
so I think you should Think about it.

HR ...Your wife needs more teaching experience to secure a job at a good school here. HR is a difficult field to break into as a lot of employees come from Asia and other Arab countries...and if you don't speak any of those languages it can be tough.
