Solutions in Iraq?
Some of us inadvertantly hijacked an important thread about the abused special needs orphans in Iraq to discuss new directions for Iraq. I thought it best to start a new thread and remove ourselves from the hurt feelings and anger bubbling up elsewhere.
So I am mulling over what Airsupply stated on that thread; eg., the idea of American soldiers staying there and making sure that Iran doesn't get any more leverage over Iraq. See I can see that that is important in theory but I don't think you can get the American public behind it now because they have no faith in the truthfulness of the President -- especially on this matter. Troops are stretched beyond breaking point and you couldn't get a draft act past the Congress. So, the question becomes then: What would it take to secure the necessary forces and involvement to clean up the mess Bush et al started?

I don't foresee a solution ...I don't foresee a solution in the near future. US troops are there to stay for the time being. Superpowers can accept casualties and attrition if their national interests are being served and so far the US and UK are convinced it's in their interest to stay.

The US will eventually learn ...The US will eventually learn how to cooperate with Iran and Syria over affairs in Iraq. I don’t think the neo conservatives understand the definition of cooperation as good as they understand the term preemptive war. The US soldiers are the ones paying the price for the self interested and short sighted elites in DC who can not and do not want to accept reality on the ground. The preemptive war strategy has failed and the US is best advised to seek cooperation with Iraq’s neighbors and stop bullying other nations. Of course as we all know, cooperation in International relations does not come without a price!

can't blame american for wat bush does ...sometime i feel many americans hate bush for wat all he did.. how many innocent lives wer destroyed in iraq.. how many american soldiers killed..? who made money..? bush,cheney,rice etc made money with their weapon industries.. american corporates made money 'rebuildiong' iraq. after all.. it's all about money..
