ohhh, packages of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing... ...can't find that lovely stuff anywhere! Granulated Garlic, not powdered. Also...mattress pads! I don't like sleeping directly on a sheet on top of the bed..anyone know where I can find one here?

Fast food with home delivery does good business here.
Video/Book lending library (also home delivery).
Vegetables & grocery home delivered. (Usually people require particular items every week - like tomato, potatoe, onion, etc)
I guess you could combine all the above into one business. The FastFood/Veg/Grocerry could be picked up from the shop next to yours. But you would need a lot of delivery boys & be excellent manager.
My friend who had started with AMWAY ended up doing this. And He is doing quite well.

I always had the idea of opening a bakery for german bread, which is very popular among europeans and americans. The good dark bread is really yummie!
I redommend to find a target group first before thinking about the products. I am looking for really good matresses or waterbeds, not this [this post has broken our guidelines by using bad language - you will be removed from QL if this continues] you get here, those that are either to hard or the springs shoot you up to the ceiling. I am talking about orthopedic matresses. I heard complaints from a lot of people about the beds and matresses. If you need help or a partner, just let me know.

yes..i agree if... ...you have been to places with kinokuniya bookstore..that would be great! Like in Singapore..it's a huge bookstore where you can spend whole day reading inside...the kids have their own nook/corner where they can read their favorite books too:)..then outside..there are coffee tables (w/ shades) just like a porch- where you can have your endulgement of your newly-bought books & a coffee.how's that?..good luck!

How are you doing these days? Long time no see :)
My idea was for a Filipino Store while the Filipino community here is huge and my friends here find it difficult sometimes to get the food they like to eat. I would open a shop and let my friends back in the Philippines supply me with different kind of food and other stuff, needed by the friends here. From Balut, Pansi , to the other things ..
Some of them did not go back home for more than 2 or 3 years, wish that I can bring their families to be here with them but I can't. At least I can help them having the same food back home, what do you think?

What do you think for a ...Ice cream bar? I mean a good one where you can get hand make ice cream in diffrent cups, like strawberry cup or norwegian cup with apple mus and vanille ice creme etc. And maybe in the winter you can sit also outside.

We have in Egypt small shops that makes almost the same scents of the branded perfumes .. ofcourse not the same quality .. as it is more volatile and not long lasting ones .. but it's for those who love the perfumes and cannot afford the branded ones ..
Sorry for my bad language skills .. i don't know how to exactly explain it .. but it's like if i'm going to buy the original Armani Code For 215 Q.R .. i can buy the emitated one from this shop (not in original fragrance) for like 20 or 30 or wutever .. some people really will like that .. but it's depending on the Area .. that will be sucessful if it was in a place like the Old doha shops Area ..

hi samya ...why not open an oxygen bar, which would treat your customers to a variety of flavoured oxygen. i think this is some thing which is really required in qatar, with lack of green plantation i wonder where does the oxygen come from. more over the oxygen in the atmosphere is polluted by the huge LNG reserve here,gases from oil refineries, gases from various industries and by the exhaust of the ever increasing automobiles.

I really appricate all the ideas I got to see from QL members. But if you check for availability of raw matterials and products, FOOD business is still considered the best in Qatar. No doubt you have huge collection in and around Doha, but I truly miss a good traditional joint where I can enjoy some good food.
Most of the places have a menu that says some thing and the cook or shef who comes from opposite thing. For example: Goto one of the famous indian resturant on Shara Karaba with flower on it, they say they serve Indian Cuisine but most of it is basically Kerla Cuisine. Anyway, lets not get into it...
I would wish to see a good traditional BBQ Joint where I can enjoy jucie RIBS and Steaks with friends and family. A simple place where I can smell the smoke and enjoy the BBQ. I am sure you will find all that you want inside Doha and may not have to import anything. Just make sure you invite me if you plan for one.
