I have a question about working in Qatar
Assalamu Alaikum,
I would like to know if I have a permanent residency in Qatar, but not a citizenship, can I invest in the stock market without asking for permission? Also, can I run an online business where I sale my wares (all legal and Halal of course) without asking for permission and without a permit? In other words, do I need a permit to run an online business?

hi... ...Hey Saudi Guy... you are from GCC, visit Doha... just couple of hours and see yourself. It is better to see and experience yourself than just hear other people opinions.

Your "online" business ...can be run from anywhere in cyberspace, so I'd say 'why not', go for it.
Did you Google it first?

Kunjar If I buy property in ...Kunjar If I buy property in Qatar they give me Permenent Residency, but they dont do that in Saudi Arabia. I am going to try to get citizenship eventually, but Permenent Residency is the first step for me. I really hate America and the West, and cant wait to get out! By the way, why do you say Qatar is a waste of time? I love Qatar, I know its not as strict a Saudi Arabia, but it is still good. I love Souq Waqif and the Masajid they have here, the architecture is so beautiful!

US CItizen coming to Doha? ...Other people are crazy going to US while you.... i cant believe it, anyway,,,,according to rumors, investors are much wellcome in Doha, and you might be one among the lucky one's. Good luck.. there's no harm in trying.

Sameerah, I want to live in ...Sameerah, I want to live in a Gulf Arab, Muslim-majority country (Again, I will state as I have countless times to others, I am fully aware that Qatar is not a perfect country with people that are 100% traditional Arab Muslims, but it is pretty close!). Qatar is beautiful and has a rich Bedouin history. I love my Arab Culture, and I really hate Western culture and ways. I feel really uncomfortable living in a coutry filled with Western kuffar. I am a traditional Arab who wants to live an Islamic lifestyle, and here in America, its becoming very difficult and problemaic to do what I love. And I practice what I preach, too. I wear Thobe and Ghutrah, I pray in public when I have to, and my apartment here basically looks like a Bedouin tent already! I am DYING to go to Qatar!

Abdulla, You are American ...Abdulla,
You are American formally and therefore will be considered like any expat as a "visitor" You will acquire a residence visa. This will permit you to procure shares in Doha. You will have to go through paperwork prior to.
You will need a Qatari sponsor to open your own business. You as a formal American are not permitted to open a business without a Qatari or live here without a Qatari sponsor.

abdulla... ...also as an American citizen, you will have to have a Qatari partner if you wish to set up business. Contrary to what was said above, being American doesn't make you king...in fact, it does have it drawbacks..huge ones.
Why not renounce your citizenship if you hate being American so much? Don't take our privileges for granted, such as voting and social services when someone who WOULD apreciate them could use them. As supernurse said...most of the nation would probably give you a standing ovation when you fly out.
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

yes, you will obtain ...yes, you will obtain residency as a property owner however, you got to read the find print.....it can be taken away.... besides residency from owning a property does not give you the right to open a business....you still need a qatari whom will own 51% of the business by law
