Many reasons... ...well, maybe they dont wanna be compelled/obligated..some are not ready yet because of responsibilities, others are enjoying things without being binded, some are afraid that the things/people they wanna be committed with are not the way they expected them to be...some are aware that they can't give or be real because they are committed somewhere else..
