hi everybody!
If I have to buy a basic mobile phone,how much should I have to
spend in Doha.?
Can I bring the unlocked Mobile from UK and buy the sim card there?
What do you people think?

Anything from 250 Riyals and ...Anything from 250 Riyals and up can get you a phone. Maybe a little less. That's about 34 quid.
Depends what features you want in it: color, camera, bluetooth, etc.

Hi Mak ...Actually we have many mobile shops and am not sure what DaRuDe is referring to. However, there does seem to be a local preference for Nokia. I have had Nokias, a Moto, several Samsungs, a Siemans, an LG (which I hated), and several Sony Ericsons. I currently am on my 2nd Imate and am pretty happy with it.
When are you arriving in Doha? Hope you'll enjoy yourself.

Darude, BenQ bought Siemens mobile phones a couple of years ago which is probably why you can't find them anymore.

The private schools seem to be pretty good -- even outstanding, in terms of teh education they provide. AT least that is what I have noticed among my own uni students.

Yep!..e46M3 ...You are correct.
School fees are very high in comparison with the pay structures.
Intially we were happy that there is NO Tax.
But afte seeing the school fee I feel that this is one form of tax.
Thank god, that I am getting accomodation provided by the employer.
Otherwise..the stealth tax will be around 50% of the salary!
