And any idea how they're going to run emergency services to it. And I thought the drunken towers in Doha were bad.

Damn that's going to be such a pain in the a$$ to build!

10thFloor said Just plain ugly ...

In my Opinion, that cobra tower is just plain ugly. It almost makes the zig zag towers here look OK. The really "futuristic" architectural designs will not stand the test of time. Buildings like the Four Seasons here are lovely and will retain their grace for years. The modern art buildings will mar the skyline.

Pretty cool design, I think, but it's not going to fix the main problem of Kuwait which is that it's probably one of the most boring places on earth :-)
Compared to Kuwait City, Doha is positively happening. :-)

Architectural wonder!!!Is this architectural wonder!!!
Even if they find some ways to solve the technical problems they may encounter, those'll just look like extra fittings on the building.
Are they trying to redefine architecture???Or just having fun, because there are few people who know nothing about architecture, but have filthy money to invest(and ofcourse, dumb)!!!

I can't imagine the amount of ugliness it will give to the Kuwait skyline once it goes up. I wish they stop making these non-sensical designs in the name of creativity.

I know this comes late, but I have to agree with mafiwasta.

I am here in Kuwait now, and I'm transferring permanently to Doha soon. And I've visited to Doha few weeks ago, and feel proud if I say that Doha, is at least 10 years ahead of this blasted country!

The people sucks!, the culture sucks! stereotyping is at its worst!, almost nobody speaks english, and if ever there were, its hard to communicate with them.

Kuwait is also indeed a contender for the most boring place in the world!. Its a pure imbalance of everything, that goes with imbalance and unmanaged freedom, and a government system that never works and still lies on paper pushing, lets not go online as it defies the old traditional cultures,.

Yes its's rich in oil, but all earnings goes to the pocket of the govt, and the pocket of Kuwaiti people. Nothing spent on improving their country as a whole.

Still a lot more, but I's rather end my case here ;)

Looking forward to move to Doha. ;)

thatguy's picture

thatguy said actually this building ...

actually this building seems to be staying with the same concept as half the buildings down town in doha... it uses a single column in the middle as its structural point and then branches out all around it for stability...

it will be a sturdy building when finished... it just looks like it wont be... take for example the most recent buidlings going up in down town...

do you see the center column of these two buildings...

http://i4.photobucke...

its the same with the cobra building...

if you look in the center of the building you can see the center column

http://www.qatarlivi...

its going to be a very sturdy building... and to me its very artistic... but its not that good looking... maybe if it didnt try to have so many curves going up it... either way... these recent buildings are nothing shy of great feets of achievment considering how quickly they get built...
