Did this happen to you?[insane LAND CRUISERS]
Sometimes, when you are driving, some land cruiser comes ryt after your car, just one inch remaining from touching the bumper and gives dipper or xenon flash...
I mean, it feels like a giant after you....and can lead to a serious crash
Should i pull the brakes? should i rise my speed to 140km/h? or should i blindly put my car in the other track???
I'm sure this thing might have happened to some of you.
What do u do in such a situation?

lesson here is... ...avoid driving at the fast lane if you're not driving a land cruiser,
and if you can't avoid that, better be alert and look always at your rear view mirror. the moment you see a fast one approaching, be prepare to shift right. it does'nt need to be a land cruiser, any other car drivers can act the same.
especially if you're slow.
safe driving will bring you home, while others will bring them faster to hell... take care!

The only time I have come ...The only time I have come close to bad behavior here was when I saw a Land Cruiser accelerate and swerve toward a worker trying to cross a street at a pedestrian crossing. I swear, if he had hit the guy I would have done something to get me deported. And it would have been worth it!

I tend to put on my hazard lights ...you'd be surprised how fast they back down! The move out of their way when you have a chance. Also, those of you that slam on your brakes...ever stop to think what will happen to you if the person behind you is a national citizen??? YOU will be the one at fault, not them. Think about it..

and I agree abohamaid...a friend of mine was being done this way by a guy in a thobe(I won't say Qatari because I don't know for sure!) and there was no place for her to go, truck on her right, traffic in front...so she raises her hands in the "what do you want me to do" motion...then flaps her hands in a flying motion, to ask him if he expected her to fly over traffic. When she finally can pull over, she does and he zooms past, pointing at her and then putting his finger to his lips telling her to shut up!!! Talk about road rage for no reason, not to mention a total lack of being grown up!!

Right, Scarlet.,.... ...We just need to put reasons in our driving ways. If you happened to be in the fast lane but somebody is faster than you are (and the right lane is free), then give way. We call it "road courtesy". Remember, it will not kill us if we give-in.
And also, about all of these disrespectful other drivers or who you called "idiots", you can shout at them, cursed them, do whatever you want, JUST DON'T OPEN YOUR WINDOW. Release the anger inside of you so you will be relieve of your own stress and you can drive home safely.

I tapped my brakes back at ...I tapped my brakes back at one guy the other day. Pissed him off quite a bit :). Made me feel better. LOL.
Don't do what I did.....just signal right, get out of their way as soon as you can safely, and go on with life. Don't try to control what you can't change. Took me a while to learn this lesson. :)

In a newspaper article a few ...In a newspaper article a few months ago some police/transport-chief-dude recommended tapping your breaks when being tail-gated as a way of getting them to back off.
Not sure it's the sort of advice that should be coming from someone like that cos it's pretty dangerous, but it does work sometimes.

zenon lights are the one ...zenon lights are the one that worry me specially during the night...its blinding i guess the authorities should ban them....tail gating is very common here just handle it according to the situation....getting off the way is the best thing....Dont mess with them they are godd at tail gating!!

just... ...just follow some simple rules:
1) always stay within the speed limit, only u r responsible for ur over-speeding
2) always keep the speed track (left most) clear unless u r using it (overtaking)
3) never swerve to get out of the Land Cruiser's way, u might bump into a car in ur blind spot. Put on ur indicators and wait for clearence to move out of his track. Always watch him in ur mirror u never kno, he might try to overtake u frm the right side
It happens to me, and every1else also i'm sure, quite often. If i'm in a relaxed state of mind (rarely) i get out of his way; else i cut down a gear or two & take off, leavin him eatin my dust.
Watever u do dont irritate or preturb the idiot any more, u never kno how he might react. i'm sure u'd have heard of cases where these guys even bump into ur car and some have even literally pushed ppl off the road. Wat does he care, he'll leave the car there & walk straight into the Toyota showroom & pick up another 1; the headache is all urs!!!

I too drive a landcrusier, but you should believe me, I dont tail gate anyone, when i am on the fast lane and i have a car in front of me, there is this general fear in most of the drivers that they give way in fear which is really un asked for.
But over all blame the drivers.. It has nothing to do with Poor machines named Land Cruiser.. Its just a 4X4 decent car, at times driven by morons.

For me and my friends ...If there is a car behind us asking a way gently. I mean not following you after inches behind you and not making those stupid flash light We are just passing to the right lane even before the car came closer. But if the car is chasing us in inches distance and making those flash lights we are going even slower without making sudden brakes and driving under the speed limit. And after a while we are giving the way.

abohmaid in emergency for what ...Sometimes I see people driving with 150 or more on way to sealine are they in emergency to reach to the sands and water? :) Of course if I believe that there is sth in emergency I would give way. And of course a person wants to go fast I do not have any problems with that. I am not that type of people who drive on the fast line with 80 kmph while the speed limit is 120 kmph. But while I am driving 120 kmph and taking over a car with 100 kmph if someone tails me and flashes those stupid lights I am releasing the gas pedal a lil bit and driving in the same speed with the car beside me to be able to block the road totally. I am already driving on the top of speed limit and there is a car beside me. What he would expect from me? More respect and behaved like kings and jump to the other lane because they have fast cars?

How to get rid of a tailgater ...Once you see you're being tailgated, follow these steps:
1. Check speed. If you're going below the speed limit, speed up to the speed limit (assuming there are no adverse conditions which make that unsafe). See if the tailgating continues before going on to #2.
2. It is unsafe to drive too close behind someone. Since you aren't the one doing the following, slow down until the person behind you is a safe distance away. If they stay at 1/2 car length behind you, then you should slow down to about 5 mph. This is following the general rule that there should be a car length between cars for every ten mph.
3. As you slow down, the dumbass may get the idea and back off. Feel free to accelerate back to your previous speed, now that it is safe to do so.
4. If the dumbass tailgater doesn't get the idea, just keep slowing down. Stop the car in the middle of the road if you have to. When the tailgater gets out of his car, start driving again.
5. If, as you slow down or stop, the tailgater takes advantage of the opportunity to pass you, good: you don't want them behind you anyway if they don't know how to drive reasonably and safely.
Note: I'm assuming the person is a genuine asshole: Otherwise he wouldn't be tailgating; he would be driving at a safe distance and waiting for an opportunity to pass safely.

If the right lane is empty you should be in it! cruising along in the left is the reason to tailgate.
Also its a hassle if you have the cruise control on to slow down for a left lane trawler, best to get close instead of cancelling the cruise setting or tapping the break.

But that is driving in Doha for you. Much of the middle east is the same. You could be driving in the middle of the desert at 200Kph in pitch black conditions... A land cruiser will surely come out of no where and flash his lights at you to move out of his way.
It's a well known fact, that they are in a bigger hurry to get stuck in traffic than everyone else.
It's unfortunate that alot of people blame the Qatari's, it is usually someone of another arabic decendancy that just think they are Qatari.

And what irritates me more is when this happens just a few meters away from the lights or a busy round about. Some of these idiot drivers just don't like to see any cars in front of them like they have to lead the way.i mean in minor roads where the speed limit is 50 or 60 they will even risk hittinganother car but they will overtake even if you are keeping the speed limit.it is like a disease that is difficult to cure.
I mean it was on gulf times recently that a qatari was tailgating and doing the ole flashlighting thing. The one in front did not give in to him and he carried on.The other behind persisted and the one in front did not give in.eventually the one in front made gestures of moving out of the way but called thwe other ones bluff and returned back in his place he did that a couple of times till the one one tailgating got fed up and pulled out a gun and bang bang shot at the car.Talking of the wild west.I mean these people love to immitate the west. it was like the bronx for a while in Doha. The one who got hit lost control of the road and went and fell in a ditch, to later die of his injuries in Hospital.
Shows you how pathetic this gets. what for just to drive a few yards in front at full speed.This type of thing( tailgating would work on Saudi highways where there are hundreds of kilometres of highway and one in front is driving too slow then fine ask him to get out of the way, even then trhere are other landes you can can just overtake him from anaother lane. here on these 2 lane 3 lane roads with just abou 300 or 400 mts to the next lights and round-about all this cowboy stunt is not worth it. I mean when some one in front is already driving at a high and you come behind him driving even faster and expect him to get out out of the way. I mean what is this?often you have a big line of trucks to your right and you need to over take them then one idiot comes and sees that there is a line of trucks on the otherside and expects you to get out of his way and go behind those trucks.This is arrogance and ignorance.
