And although we do not have the power to influence the outcome of the elections, we have a right to take interest in it. With US being a major power in the world(consider its economic status, recognition, and nuclear power at hand), we should definitely take interest in the upcoming elections as this will have a worldwide impact due to USA's widespread connections.

Global economy WILL be affected.
This is something you should consider.

So this question, as much as it is interesting, really is pointless. onceagain said For those of you who are interested, ...

I would like to explain a little about American voting. America is supposed to be a democratic republic. Hence, the names of the parties. The 'democratic party' typically represents a socialistic form of government, meaning more government programs supported through government taxation. The 'republican party' typically represents what other countries usually call the democratic party, meaning less taxation because there are fewer government programs - they try to provide the freedom for individual decision making for individuals. Now, each party representative can only perform as well as congress and the public allow them to, because they are there for checks and balances but it means its also difficult to get things done in a timely manner. Also, a president is only going to be as good in their job as they are as an individual. Hope this helps anyone who wanted to know

I think the outcome of the presidential elections is already determined and the winner is already known (Obama). so the opinion of other nations does not influence the elections outcome.

I believe in democracy and i believe that everyone has the right to voice either his/her support/opposition to anything in the world.

However, there is always a fact that many people have opposing point of views but they fear to talk about them.

Thank you all.

onceagain's picture

onceagain said About the economy... ...

I notice people like to blame Bush for the problems in the economy, which perhaps the deregulation changes helped, but on a more realistic viewpoint let me point out that until the present, the 1950s, early 60s, were considered the golden age. Yet most families only owned one car and it was very common that more than half the people rented rather than owned their own home. Presently, more people than ever before in American history own their own homes and even single people own more than one vehicle and quite a few more than one home.
The REAL problem is that people are greedy, and impatient and ran up their credit/debt so high that they have a difficult time paying their bills. Rather than saving for a decent down payment on a home like previous generations have done, people bought homes with creative financing and now can't afford the homes they were buying.
In the past, people thought about what was best for the country as a whole; now they only think about what is best for them. It means everyone hurts, even the innocent who did everything correct or weren't even involved directly.
Obama will make things worse because he is encouraging people in their selfishness and self pity - and he lacks the experience to make a positive change. He has less experience than Palin. McCain and Biden both have a lot of experience, but Biden didn't win the primaries and HE will not BE the president if Obama wins.

But what you seem not to get right is that OBAMA's policies is what i actualy feel would put people's greediness into check. The foreclosures you are talking about affects majority of the US middle class citizens and not the so called 'greedy' who cannot count how many homes they own like McCain. Obama's taxation policy is directed at those "greedy" by using their money for the healthcare, economic growth, repair infrastructure and yet have enough to finance the investment in clean energy that would creat millions of jobs. Talk of experience you can judge that with the consitency and outstanding way he has been handling his campaign; through it, he has created jobs for tens of thousands of youths, all that with how much? I can't just wait to see a great President OBAMA would be to the U.S and the citizens of the WORLD!

pal's picture

pal said Dear onceagain, 1- People do ...

Dear onceagain,
1- People do not just "like" to blame bush for the economy. In fact, Bush IS TO BLAME for the global financial crisis according to economy experts.

2- This is what www.whitehouse.gov has written about Bill Clinton (Democrat):

“During the administration of William Jefferson Clinton, the U.S. enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any time in its history. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. He could point to the lowest unemployment rate in modern times, the lowest inflation in 30 years, the highest home ownership in the country's history, dropping crime rates in many places, and reduced welfare rolls. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades and achieved a budget surplus.”

This sounds like the golden era of the US, not the 60’s, not Bush’s term, not McCain’s.

3- It is amazing how you view the dream of owning a house and a car in the richest country in the word, as greed. What a republican way to explain things!!! More interestingly, you blame average people for the economic crisis rather the decision makers!

4- Obama and the experience:

a. George Bush had the experience. Look what he has done to the US and the world.

b. When Abraham Lincoln and Bill Clinton were running for president, they were both called too young and too inexperienced. They turned to be the most popular presidents in the history of the US.

c. Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, has an experience of 36 years in the Senate during which he was chairman of the Senate’s two major committees, the Judiciary Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee.

d. Intelligence, integrity, poise, leadership are as important as experience. While Obama proved that he has these attributes, Bush and McCain proved that they lack them.

5- Could you please present any proofs for the following arguments you made:

a. “Obama will make things worse because he is encouraging people in their selfishness and self pity.”
b. “He has less experience than Palin.”

Regards,

The outcome IS associated to us all. He can "talk" unlike Bush and has logic and common sense to add to his portfolio.

He may not be perfect and he may not achieve all that he would like to as President however, starting on a positive route is step one, and some good is better than Mcain aka bush.

Somehow, I think he might just start repairing all the damage created whether is be in this region or others.......

I am not into politics but in this instance, I need to be and follow the election.....look how the world has changed the last 8 years with repercussions for non-american's too.........

Fingers crossed for Obama

Secondly, USA's economy is suffering from a temporary crisis and will come back stronger and better inshallah. So please stop kicking the US economy while down because this is immoral, unethical and furthermore it is a fallacy and a big illusion. bhaddock's picture

bhaddock said Not completely correct ...

Pals,
Some of what you say is correct, but you really need to think twice regarding Clinton. He is by NO means even closely compared to Lincoln or even considered by most Americans as a good president. Also, as for our current economic crisis, Clinton is mainly to blame. Clinton's administration was the reason that Americans didn't have to place a large down payment when buying a house. He forced the banks to create mortgages with little or no down payment...........which has caused a lot of what we are currently experiencing. I won't go into detail, you can do the research yourself, but know that Clinton's administration did do a lot of wrong! As an American I will ask that you never put him at the list of the best presidents and NEVER compare him to Lincoln, as there is no comparison! Lincoln is an incredibly important figure in American history and his name should not be disgraced by your ignorance!

Furthermore, for all of you who want to say that we hate the world and want to destroy everything.....let's think about the good that has come as well. Although our attacking Iraq has not been a perfect situation (far from it)...........one brutal dictator is gone, and many many people no longer have to suffer at the hands of this sadist and his family. So although the Iraq war has been dreadful............Iraq was already dreadful before we entered (chemical weapons and Kurdistan ring any bells), this applies to Afghanistan as well. You people forget the torment these people experience daily. Probably because those who live in the rural areas don't have the ability to show what is wrong in their lives. Most of these people are illiterate and have no means of communicating with the world around them. Just because the problems weren't in plain sight before we entered these countries does not mean that they didn't exist. The world was simply unaware.

On top of all this, our country was attacked in a very cowardly way by a group that is based out of the Middle East. It is our right to search for the culprit and attempt to take down any country that wants to protect terrorists. People complain about this, but terrorists don't just hurt Americans, they hurt everyone! Even Afghani's, Iraqi's, and the rest of the Middle East experiences the terror in terrorism. There are car bombs everywhere, and other cowardly ways of killing..........they want the Middle East to be strictly conservative Islam. But as we can see not everyone in the Middle East wants to live this way. Given that the country we are currently residing in makes billions through selling oil and such to the western world in an effort to make their home more modernized. This is what the terrorists are against. This is not just because of America. This is because the Middle Eastern countries have seen the way the Western world operates, and they like parts of it and choose to mimic it. Imitation may be flattery, but it is by no means the fault of America or Americans!

At least our attacks on other countries result in some benefits for the citizens of those countries. Let's not forget all the horrible things Great Britain has done in the past century, remember India?? There are too many other countries to name when it comes to evil deeds! Come on people, look at the bigger picture and stop criticizing America so much. We are not all bad people and the majority simply want to help those who are suffering needlessly. I truly believe that it is everyone's responsibility to step up and take action when you witness a wrong. Just because your countries choose to sit on their [Let's not get blocked by the Telco]es while we do all the work does not make us bad. Someone has to stand up for those who cannot fight for themselves. And unfortunately for Americans it is our men and women who must sacrifice in an effort to make this world just a little better.

Also, there are a ton of wrongs being committed all over the world and the governments are simply too lazy to get involved. So I ask that you look at your country and try to fix its problems, say human trafficking for example, and lay off our backs for a while.

Sincerely,
An American woman that does not appreciate your narrow mindedness!

What's happening in the world is of prime priority in everyone's life because ultimately every Tom, Dick, and Harry; every Mable, Martha, and Cindy will be drawn into the consequences of American foolhardiness.

Abortion should be allowed for unprepared to-be mothers, lest the mother chooses to bring in another homeless child into this planet. Sometimes, due to the potential risks that the mother or foetus may face, abortion becomes compulsory. Rape victims as young as 16 deserve a right to chose. Abortion kills a life that has no senses and is unborn, Republicans kill innocent civilians replete with senses.

Socialism and communisn aren't the same thing(injunity needs social sciene classes as well).

I'm American and I voted for Obama. I'm not so sure that he'll be able to do the job, but I'm sure he'll do a better job then McCain. He's a likeable guy and open to other's opinions. He actually has traveled in his lifetime and therefore I beleive that he will be more sympathetic to the issues of the world we all share. I've also traveled a lot in my life and have friends from all over the world, but I have to mention that as an American I've been so ashammed to admit my nationality over the past 8 years. Bush is a horrible person and I'm so glad that he will finally be out of office.

Unfortunately you probably won't find many other Americans on this site that share my views. Mainly that is due to the fact that many Americans here work in the oil & gas industry and are probably from Texas. Obviously Texas is Bushes home state and besides that it's full of republicans who are too blinded by propaganda to see the situation for what it is. The days when we could trust our government to look after our best intrests are long gone. Our leaders have now imposed so many regulations over the last 8 years that the United States is far from being free. Most of the people in those Red States still think that they are free. Can you beleive it?

I really do hope that future President Obama can help to educate our country and reestablish all of those close international relationships that were built by President Clinton, one of the most admired presidents by the people of the world.

If you really want to find out more about who and how this financial crisis started look at: http://mises.org/ You'll find that the main reason for it was that in 2001, under Bushes direction, the government of the US passed a bill that allowed the government to loan money to banks at 1% intrest rates, this in return allowed those banks to lower their intrest rates and offer the crazy mortgages that they did to people that were completely unqualified to get a loan from even the shadiest bookie on the planet. Now we've passed another bill for the bailout which will mainly pay the salaries of the CEOs who run these banks, proabably all Republicans and lobbiests to the Republican party. Yes, if you do the research all of the info is there.

Totally agree with Eve
