Police station experience....

In Qatar i think people are finding it quiet easy to 'criticize the cook' So i thought i would share a positive experience to change the tone of QL a little bit.
I had to switch my license a couple days ago so i went to MOI on a Saturday morning... The computer system was down because it was all brand new and installed the day before... But that doesn't matter because the people working down there were really nice and gave us great service... And that made all the difference... It made it easier when the supervisor said ''come back in two hours'' when it's said nicely...
Anyways just to point out a positive surprise... U was expecting to find people bored of their minds for their jobs and just not willing to help out... but it was quiet the opposite this time...

the one experience I've had ...with the police station (minor auto accident) was fine...the computers were up and running and the men behind the desk were pleasant and efficient...even got them to smile and laugh too...Very helpful..
Glad to hear you had a good experience...we all too often only hear the negative ones..
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Well the cook reference ...Well the cook reference could be a cultural one... We use it back home to say basically people can talk a lot when it comes to complain, but are usually more quiet when it comes to congratulating good work...

right that's something nice ...right that's something nice to hear. just like what happened to me at a QNB branch this morning. the account officer whom i was supposed to meet was out and so i went to her boss instead. now this guy is real busy (takes calls, makes calls, signs papers, talks to other clients, all at the same time! and on top of that he had to reboot a pc beside his desk as the one sitting there, a young Qatari girl, didn't know how to reboot it!) but he was very pleasant to me, attentive and quite nice. and when i thanked him, he smiled and said "you're welcome".

That is very sad, but true. ...That is very sad, but true. When I walk in there and they see a white person who speaks American English, everything seems to get into overdrive. But when my Paki friends go for renewal or something, everything grinds to a heart stopping halt.
But don't get me wrong, there are some police out there who really just want to help, but the problem is that they are few and far between.

Another positive expereince in immigration dept. ...My last visit to immigration dept. was 4 years ago, and I promised myself not to go there again for millions of reasons.
Yesterday, I had to apply for a visit visa for my mother in law. I was surprised of the new buildings, wonderful organization, clean rooms. And above all, the quality of service I received from the man setting behind the counter; I was really impressed.
Now the big surprise, I PRINTED THE ISSUED VISA ON THE SAME DAY.
I must convey my gratitude to the new system and the wonderful service in immigartion dept. (Messaimair office)

Qatar Govt. system is improving..:) ...After hearing Novita’s experience in the traffic dept… I was expecting a similar story...but to my surprise….
I went there to renew my car registration. There was a Sudanese guy who offered to help me if I pay him. I just asked him if I need to type any Arabic form for registration. He said no typing required...he told he can do it fast. I thanked him and said I can do it myself. I went around 7 am. There was no Que, I went to a lady and asked if I can renew my registration here...she asked if I have insurance..i said yes..she checked the violation..No violations.. she asked me for my ATM card..within 2 mints my new card is printed.
I was really surprised by the quick service. I appreciated her good work… and went to the officer in the cabin and thanked him for the good service.
Thanks to the system and to the smart Qataris who are doing a good job in the govt departments.

Another positive experience. ...Another positive experience. Showtime called and asked if we would like a second tv installed, we said yes and arranged a date and time. The day before, they called to confirm they were coming. The men arrived on the dot, were polite and efficient and half an hour after they left Showtime called to follow up and make sure everything was working and we were happy. Fantastic customer service!

Formatted, you are right,... ...car registration is easy and fast. Actually, what is slow and sometimes unbearable is getting the insurance. Well, of course, if you are very early in the Insurance office, you'll get it immediately. The guys in Moroor took five minutes to convince me to just pay 500 and they do all the works. 300 for insurance, 100 for registration and 100 as their service fee. 10 minutes in that morning and another 5 minutes in picking up my papers afterlunch.
But if you have the patience, you can do it yourself.

I was in the immigration this morning,... ...requesting for a visit visa for my youngest son, people are cordial and very helpful. It was still very early, 7:30 I think and not much people around.
But I've been there four times and all I experienced were fine, satisfactory service.

Great attitude difference ...After many years today morning I went to airport immigration office to apply for visit visa for my wife’s younger brother he is also my cousin. After checking my application form, officer there VERY POLITELY told me the objection and guided me to fill the form again.
After submitting the form and money I asked the lady about the process time, she also replied VERY POLITELY “check internet after 2 hours”.
All this took only 10 minutes but I spend more than 1 and half hours on roads
(home to school, airport immigration and office).

immigration office ...i visited immigration office to get my visa. i was stopped by the police at the main entrance. i have no much paper to show because, you know, that is the very reason why i am there, to get it.
the police asked me, "what is the wrong"? i replied, "What's wrong? Hmm how can I say that in a very simple statement? I can't speak Arabic yet. fortunately, the police can't speak english too. he let me pass. good job isn't it?
