What is a good Salary and package?
Well it all depends on your particular situation here’s a rough guide:Single (no significant other or children)8000-9000QAR Basic Salary6500QAR or Provided Accomodation1500QAR transportation(your package should include health care coverage, and furniture allowance –if applicable—and plane tickets home)For a couple with no children or 1 small child:10 000QAR basic salary6 500QAR housing allowance1500QAR Transportation allowanceYour package should also include a furniture allowance, health and Medical Coverage, free tickets to your home country per year for at least yourself, spouse, and three children. Also if your child is in school you will need a subsidy on their education. This will allow you to live in a modest 2-bdrm apartment with a decent lifestyle and allow you to save some money per month ïƒ that amount will be dependent on yourself. If you want to live in a Villa 15000QAR basic salary12000QAR housing allowance (at least)1500QAR transportationAll the above benefits. You'd be better off taking ...You'd be better off taking this to a Dubai-based forum but doing the math that's less than 12000 Dirhams/month. Dubai is like Doha, if not worse when it comes to rents.
Be careful with this offer.

I am not south african!!! but want to help out. ...You did not state some vital informations like what type of housing you want, but any way here are some answers.
1. South africans are relatively few in Qatar but u are sure to find some in doha, mesaieed and other satelite/industrial areas.Dont worry there are a handful of hospitable Africans here who can help u to locate fellow south africans, just try to be friendly.
2.You can get decent 2 or 3 bedroom flats for that price in Doha(i.e if u mean the QR 10,000 is for housing only)
3.Its not so expensive living in Qatar with QR 5000 you shuld be having a worry free living, but i must say also that life style is also a major determinant in living expenses.Want cheap living, live modestly otherwise there are so many things to spend your money on here!
4. BEACH ACTIVITIES e.g boating fishing e.t.c, MOVIES at the cinema, eating out at RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING! SHOPPING!! SHOPPING!!! (by the way alchohol consumption is not taking lightly.leave the ladies carefully out too)
Hope it answers some of your questions.

Job offer in Dubai ...it will be a bit tough as u may have to live in sharjah where rents are cheaper and commute. But the bottom line is that if its your first time abroad, grab it and make contacts in the first years of your contract and move on. There are many greener pastures in dubai...sadly I'm moving to Doha.. construction is slowing down...this is intended for the guy who was asking a doubt on taking up a job offer in dubai
