The last time I shared an accommodation was when I joined the air-force at the age of eighteen. It was awful. The other guy snored like hell! Luckily after three months I got my own "apartment".

londonh, just compare with the salary in London for the same position. Would you work for 1000 pounds a month? Or even better... would you leave your home for 1000 pounds a month?

6.000 is enough for a single person. don't expect to save much tho: i can't compare between u and me, but to have an idea, i spend around 4.000QR per month not counting car/transportation, house, internet, or kahrama bills. much of these 4.000 go to recreation and eating out since i don't cook at home.

All bills and transportation are included in the offer, I don't need to pay for anything apart from food and clothing, and I am on my own so hopefully it will be enough.

So half the salary, sharing accomodation with someone or more than one someone you haven't met let alone know are going to improve your outlook?

What about your transport aside from to and from work? That adds up. Food - that depends on what you want to eat. Organic is very expensive here.

Recreation, want to join one of the gyms? 5* hotels offer packages - starting usually in the 7 - 8 thousand Riyal range. Eating out - the local shwarma stand or maybe a pretty good Italian place - the former 5 riyals the latter can be pretty expensive too (and not one in a hotel where you could order a drink) One local place I like can add up to 80 - 100 riyals without alcohol (because they don't serve it)

Want a drink once in a while - cheapest about QAR25 per pint - and the sky is the limit as the venues get glitzier.

though many people have a package even lower than what you are offered... IMO its still not very attractive.

but considering the fact that you will most probably be on a probation for 3 months... u have nothing to lose infact come experience Qatar or nothing. :)

Its Good Offer .... Sharring Accomodation, Transportation is the main importance in Qatar... After Experience 1 r 2 year automatically ur Salary increase..... what u need more ???? JUST food

Wow u guys are really helpful I will try to negotiate a higher salary. As for my lifestyle I'm really boring lol I like to read most of my money is spent on new books I can complete a book cover to cover in one night. I like to swim I wonder if thats expensive? I would really love to come and work in Doha just for the experience. I just hope myt expectations aren't to high and it ends up being alot worse than I imagine. Thanks a bunch guys :)

Oh, good Lord, for half the after-tax salary you are making now? And in a country where there are NO bookstores? And very little flexibility and freedom when it comes to your job, days off, travel, etc? And no money with which to enjoy yourself? With the exception of petrol, Qatar is more expensive than London. Good luck! I'd have to be VERY bored before I'd sell myself into indentured servitude. Is it an adventure? Yes, but not always of the pleasant kind. In Doha if you're not at the very tippy-top top of the food chain the view isn't very good.

I got an offer for working in a great group in Doha...the salary is 4.500 QR per month...I will receive a tansportation allowance of 400QR and car operation allowance of 500QR and the housing will.be provided. i wanna ask if the salary is fine for living overthere...hanging out and doin' shopping. plz im waitting for ur answers thnx so much.cuz i read wht u ve just written and im wondering if u can give me info

BS, Isn't it Less... You can bargain for atleast 5400 Basic and the rest looks fine to me....

Shopping, is a bit expensive out here, but once a Month would be fine for you, The Only Other Expense you have to Pay is Food & Transportation is Expensive as well, When it comes to Taxi....

Hi guys! Just wanted to give u all a quick update. I have managed to negotiate a 20% increase in the original offer. After my 3 months probation this will increase further. Hey mate! I think its a fine job with a decent pay out for such an interesting task. Also it can help you learn a lot more abt Qatar mean while you might get another better job here itself:) Fantastic place to live :) Dont worry abt your room mate, thats no matter to even be concerned abt in Qatar:)
