I tried out the iPhone
I was so excited that I got to try out the iPhone, but you know what? It really sucks for what it claims to be!
It is not easy to use and here is why:
-it is hard to go to any website-very hard!
-the keyboard to type messages on is very clumsy and difficult to get the right letter
-it's almost impossible to go back and forth between what you are looking at and if you ht a wrong button and go somewhere else on the phone.
-it's too easy to accidentally hit the screen and suddenly loose what you were doing
-the internet screen is small, and even though you can switch to horizontal, it does not help at all.
The iPhone is marketed as an internet phone, but the internet is very hard to use on it. It's really no better than any nokia phone that has internet- and at least with the Nokia's (or similar) you aren't taken to random menus on the phone when you brush the screen. I lost so much work this way!!
I have used a lot of phones in my life, and I am NOT impressed with this one.
Anyone use it? What do you think?

Also the way it is programed ...Also the way it is programed to shift from one use to the other is to easily tripped.
I tried using it for a couple of weeks and just gave up and gave it away. Oh well, I am thinking Apple will fix the kinks on the next one.

you can unlock it to use WiFi and iPod ...Apparently you can unlock if to use WiFi and the iPod funcionality - just not the phone.

The iPhone in Qatar will ...The iPhone in Qatar will most probably NOT be like the US version as there are already rumours that the iPhone will be 3G and with a host of updates in Europe.
I love Apple. (the only company I truly support), however the lack of MMS, setting your OWN Mp3's as a ringtone, no 3g, a weak 2mp camera, and few other issues, make me disappointed.
I think I'll hold out until the next version comes out.
For those considering getting the US version, please WAIT, the euro version (which should bring on some nice unlocks) will be out in a bit.

not interested ...I think the iphone is more of a hype than a proper function cellfone unless you have the bucks to spare. Even the ipod is not so user friendly. better to stick to the experienced cell makers such as Sony, Nokia, Samsung. For those who have already purchased it, enjoy the toy and fame of owning one while the hype is in the air.

Hamlet ...I forgot to post here that it also doesn't have bluetooth capabilities from phone to phone. Can only use bluetooth to your PC! Maybe the one for the ME will be modified, but apple did this to control music sharing issues so it might not be modified.
You should check it out first, but I think it was all hype.

Army ...The iphone from the USA is unusable anywhere but the USA. You can't unlock it and can only use it in the USA with AT&T, but if you get the ME version you can use it anywhere with any service including in the US.
Hamlet- I am 100% sure about the bluetooth. Took it to the apple store and asked and got help- they said can only use bluetooth to your PC or headset, thats it!!
Its a fun toy- but I think the second version will be so much better. As soon as you try it out you will understand what I am saying.

I have it with me, it is the best mobile/portable electronic device ever build. Sleek software / Compact hardware.
Bear in mind that this is only the 1st generation iPhone from a company that does NOT do phones and by far it's already beating the crap out of Nokia and such... (Hardware wise, but also software! Since iPhone run on OS X, other companies will never catch up, Microsoft has been trying to do so since XP and came with CRAPVISTA)
From my point of view, the iPhone will change the whole cellphones industry for good, phone will never be the same. They did the same for the MP3 players, now they have ~80% marketshare.
Those who whine about the iPhone still don't get it I think.
I say:
MMS is lame. (Morons use it anyway)
3G is for the 2nd Gen.
3MP Camera for the 2nd Gen.

MTX ...you can activate all functions except for phone (ipod functionality, wifi, etc) without any problems but to get calls n texting to work, it's pretty tough. there are certain methods like sim cloning which could work, or even a "turbo sim" method (just google it up), but nothing which will let you "UNLOCK" your iphone completely.

Unlocking it isn't simple though.
You have to get turbo sim, and you flash a blank sim card with the AT&T sim card and your own sim card.

/-a-t-/amnesia ...a complete unlock means you should be able to insert any sim card and it works perfectly fine, you shouldn't have to clone/flash a sim card each time you want to enable it for use. with the methods currently used for "unlocking" your iphone, you wont be able to just insert a new sim card and make a call!
i would rather say it's just enabling the sim to be used with the iphone and is not at all unlocking it for gsm/edge networks..
although soon enough there will be a method (i guess there was something about short circuit unlock, haven't read about it) to completely unlock the iphone.

I just bought an N95... ......and I'm very happy with it. It's not as flashy as the iphone but it works for me. HTC also has the Touch available here that can do everything the iphone does, including touch screen, camera and wifi...and you can even make phone calls...

Win Sucks! ...Without further bashing here is your easiest way:
Step 1 - Uninstall iTunes (If you don't have it installed go to Step 2)
Step 2 - Download and Install this version of iTunes http://www.pqdvd.com...
Step 3 - Download this program http://www.pqdvd.com...
Step 4 - Take a deep breath, get yourself a drink and sit relaxed
Step 5 - Repeat Step 4
Step 6 - Launch iphoneunlocktoolkit.exe
Step 7 - Click on "Unlock iPhone" (Yeah it's this complicated)
Step 8 - Voila! Enjoy your shiny new activated toy now.
Step 9 - That'll be $49
PS: It this didn't work you may have to start from Step 6 and launch the program and iTunes as well.
PS2: Full Unlocking will be out on the 29th.

They recently posted an item ...They recently posted an item about someone hacking the iPhone in the States. Now you can use it abroad. I think it takes about 2 hrs to complete the hack. If you go to msn.com or msn.msnbc.com there should be info linking you to the site to break the At&T hold on the iPhone.

I-phone and Motorola V3I ...I saw a demo of I-phone in a showroom back in the states in June and I was not impress with it neither.
The punishment that all my phones go through is severe and unfriendly.
The most characteristics that I look forward in a phone is a good robust phone with a OK weight, size and keyboard layout friendliness. The luxury part is not be consider at all from my behalf.
My preference is Motorola, Nokia, and Siemens. My current phone that still in service and always being faithful so far, has survived plenty of drops, lots rudeness in the handling, is my Motorola v3I. This phone was purchase by me, when it came out first in Dubai a couple of years ago.

Yes they consolidated all the menus to a more friendly environment but a phone is suppose to be a phone not some freaking mini LAPTOP and not some Paper weight.
Having AT&T AS A CARRIER is not the best in the market neither.
I use Palm-Treo 750 that I won this year while in Vacation in a sweepstakes and its operation menus are flawless. The only thing I hate is the size and weight.

I love my Macs and my iPods (I buy everything that comes out).
The iPhone to me isn't at the point where I'm satisfied. Add 3G, Satnav (I need it when I travel), a much better camera (I take pictures and videos of everything), and give me 3rd party support and I'll be happy.
Let's hope that the euro or asian version will have more features :)
