Rents Finally Decline in Qatar

Yes that's true, yesterday my friend got an excellent 2 bed room apartment, in a very nice building with covered parking, very nice from inside in just 5000 QAR. 4 - 5 months ago such apartments were going on 7000 - 9000 QAR.
I wont be surprised if the same fall to 3 - 4 K QAR.

The apartment is in Nauija .... it is near Al-Hilal, about 5 minutes from The Mall. I don't have the contact number yet .... but I will provide you !!!
My suggestion to those who are looking for apartments these days is to wait for a couple of weeks.
It would be ideal to get apartment in Feb 2009, as these low rents would take time to reflect properly in the market. Real Estate Agents are trying their best yet to keep the rents high, but it is no longer in their hands !!!

yaghazali said i've heard from my parents ...

i've heard from my parents that many new buildings are still empty because the rents were too high (more than 8000), and slowly the prices have been coming down. this is all from word of mouth though.

i doubt landlords would lower the rent if their buildings already have occupants. this would probably only happen if the occupants left and they needed to attract someone else to rent the place.
right now we have a 2 bedroom apartment for 7000, and this was a super find last year. 5-6000 sounds more like the upcoming norm. what do you think? :)

Good Luck All.

I really hope that this is the case and it will give all those bed spacers a chance to find something decent to live in and get away from those who are charging too much and earning a profit on renting out rooms.

The rent will definetely go down in the coming months. Its natural. It is the part of the recession. Economic slow down just started to middle east. When it affects Qatar also at its full strenth, reverberations also will be in the real estate sector also.

please don't say the rents are less now,..my company will cut the subsidy,..:)

5000 two bedrooms is still TOO MUCH,.. sure it's less now,..but it should go much less to say it's OK,...
most of the peolpe here spend half of their salaries on housing,.. if this became quarter,.it will be reasonable,..

the government will not allow rents to go down,..just wait and see,.. you'll hear about new laws, and new demolitioned areas,.. they'll keep prices us,.. just wait and see,..
of course I hope I'am wrong...

Possibly even as far as into the first half of 09.

We will see. Good luck to you guys out there!

Dont jump into hire new accommodation now with big amounts. Rent is gradually coming down. By march '09 there are chances for very low rates. It is unfortunate and sad ,but its true , a public sector company in Qatar laid off 400 employees now. They have extended the term of around 200 employees upto march '09 since their children have to complete an academic year.

rent for three rooms located corner lot of al sadd and rate is still the same as our current rental QR10,000/mo... We were shocked because they asked for QR20,000 for an advance deposit in CASH/Dated Check plus 24 post dated checks of QR10,000.

It is okei if they asked for QR10,000 advance payment then 25 checks but QR20,000 is too much...

I have noticed one thing that the owners are insisting to make contracts for long time or asking for huge deposits. They want to trap the tenants as they are really scared of a further downfall of rent
