The mother of the ...8 year old had filed a lawsuit against the Aqua Park.
she should do the same against A&E of Hamad Hospita.
IMO an ambulance should be permnantly avilabe in Aqua Park as it is accident risk zone.

From Al Raya arabic ...From Al Raya arabic newspaper, Monday:
An 8 yrs old Palestinian child (136cm tall) falls and drown in a not too deep pool (139 cm deep), few meters away from where his family were sitting.
Manager said that the child violated the clear signs which says that only children supervised by adults can use that pool. He also claimed that the ambulance took 45 min after the placed the emergency call.
Today, same newspaper:
Emergency dept deny any delay in ambulance arrival, call was made 6:12 and ambulance arrived 6:25 he said.

What a lame comment regarding ...What a lame comment regarding suing HMC, it is not the ambulance fault, because aqua park management didn't request to have an ambulance on standby at the park to begin with, they declined the offer years back. unfortunately aqua park doesn't even have a medical clinic inside nor in-house medical staff... so expect a ghost roaming around the park

exactly ...tinkerbell , lemonyo exactly this is deja-vu a place like that should have been closed when the 1st accident took place if measures were taken back then, chances of having such accidents would have been reduced,... sadly, the kid paid the price of management and parents' laissez-aller...

infact, Aqua park should have experience First Aiders available all the time in tat premises incase of any emergencies....

May this be a lesson for both parties... Aqua Park- to be more strict on their rules and add more safety precautions for their guests, For guests- to follow the rules and always keep an eye to their youngsters.
May the boy's soul rest in peace.

I for one have vowed not to send my daughter there at all, regardless of who goes. Too many horror stories now! And when disaster strikes,God forbid, it's gonna be pointless then blaming anyone but ourselves!

Fatimah, I must respectful ...Fatimah, I must respectful disagree, habibti! Blame can serve a useful purpose. That's how we learn from accidents and tragedy. Blame is why we use seat belts, flame retardant children's clothes, learn the Heimlich, and on and on. If we never learn we never improve. That's why we have investigations that assign blame in air accidents - pilot error, structural failure, maintenance issues, etc.

I agree Mandi ...But I guess if the blaming alone will not bring about any good then it will be useless. I agree with taking the lessons from this tragedy but as of now the parents are blaming Aqua Park is blaming HMC is blaming Aqua Park etc.
Personally I believe that place has been pretty ill fated from the word go. And sadly instead of fixing their flaws they are playing the game themselves.
On a side not I wonder if all investigations into this case have ended or are they still going on. Seems to me only a thorough expert analysis of the accident can lay the blame squarely on who's shoulders it belongs.

Aqua Park should have thier own Ambulance and staff ...And the family is equally responsible ......... What if they leave kid on the road with out attention like this...i have noticed many ladies so much focused in their gossips and chit chat thay they forget every thing else, including kids.......

I think there should be fully ...I think there should be fully equipped medical room and trained staff available at such places.
Yes of course the blame does start with the Parents for not supervising their kids, and then the management of the Aqua Park for not having trained staff for First Aid and CPR and lastly for on Hamad Emergency services for taking their time to come to the accident site.
They need to shut that place down and carryout a full Health & Safety Audit and put in place procedures and mechanisms to how to deal with this kind of accidents.

And even if that was the case, would you, as a caring parent, entrust your child to the demotivated underpaid staff? I beg of you.

Totally agree ...with UKEngQatar, they close down a market place for less important reasons than that! The least they can do is stop the operations at that place for a while until responsibilities are set and improvements are made, as for the parents.... I don't envy them as they made the mistake they shouldn't have made... The problem is that it is irreversible,

Sad... ...I went to the park 2 weeks ago and thought it was safer with more lifeguards on duty than last year. I could not believe though when an announcement came out at 1pm saying all lifeguards were going for lunch until 2pm!
Within a few minutes all guards were gone and people were still in and out of the pools. Absolutely rediculous! Now that is a serious breach of health and safety.
I wonder what time this tragedy happened?

accidents happen, just more ...accidents happen, just more frequintly with the children of careless parents... I am talking as a former fatal car accidents investigator, not just a mother. Putting a seatbelt on a driver, but allowing your child to jump between the seats and stick her head out of the car roof-that's what make me feel sick, even looking at that. The situation with aquapark accident is pretty similar. it's the parent's responsibility first of all to make sure their kid learns to swim before allowing him on his own (you just can't off-load your parental responsibility to his siblings)on big waterslides etc. Or, alternatively, if your child is unable to swim or dive, make sure he is wearing swimming aid and WATCH him every second. It's not a life guard's child, it's YOURS!!!!!!!

i totally agree kitty ...but still this story of a 1 hr break for the lifeguards doesn't lift the responsibility off the aquapark management!
Moreover, careful parents wouldn't take their kids to aquapark in the 1st place
I pitty the siblings who must feel responsible now, what a mess these parents did to their kids! One dead and two with an everlasting guilt feeling

a child can still be rescued ...a child can still be rescued even after 15 minutes being underwater with a slight or no major damage to the brain. After 22 minutes without oxigen a child would suffer major brain injury simply from the lack of oxigen. I just wonder, if the parents or siblings or lifeguards would take the child out of the water straight away, why nobody performed first emergency aid on him? Most of the lifeguards are trained to do it! It can only mean that either no one noticed the child in the water for a long period of time, or the child's injuries caused him death, not the lack of oxigen in the first place. We can only discuss from what we are told, but so much can be behind it, what we will never know... lets just say, safety of children in public places here is not a priority of any management.

There is no need to blame HMC ...There is no need to blame HMC for not responding immediately or whatsoever. If they were told straight away about the accident, and there would be still a chance to save the child, they would definitely send an ambulance green helicopter to the aquapark! I've been in Hamad with my son(for an x-ray) when the helicopter had to go three times non-stop responding to a major car accident in Salwa Rd that night(not the same night of the aciident in Aqua park). And all the blood-covered victims with fractures and in a very bad condition were telling near x-ray door how greatful they are to the brave American guys who work for HMC on this helicopter. I think either HMC weren't told the truth in the first place about the time of the accident,if they send Ambulance car instead, or they were told there is no chance and the child shows no signs of life.

If the Kid was with parents then the fault lies on the parents as Aqua park have clear instructions and even lifeguards around. Most of the time the kids try to dodge the lifeguard who try to stop them.
If the siblings where minors themselves then Aqua Park should be blamed for letting in kids without adult to accompany them.

But they dont care, only think for MONEY!!! Authority should jail them.
