Visa for Filipino Mother-In-Law
I have a few questions to ask, as different immigration offices and Qatar Airways are all telling me different things. I am British and my wife is Filipino. We wanted my mother-in-law to come here and look after our 2 year because my wife now also has a job. I went to one immigration office and was told to bring my mother-in-law in on a visit visa and then to apply for residency once she was here. She did the medical and we went through the full process of applying.
The immigration officer who originally said to apply for residency once she was here, then told me they could not process it there, so I needed to go to Garaffa and it would be “No problem”. I got to Garaffa immigration and was sent from desk to desk over the course of 5 hours and finally told “Captain said no”. I was then told extend the visit visa to a total of 6 months and then apply for another visit visa once this expires.
We’re now in month 5 and I’ve been to apply for new visit visa and the immigration officer now says that we have to wait 90 days for my mother-in-law to come back into the country once she leaves! Despite being told in Garrafa we could apply for another one and come back in straight away.
I explained this to the immigration officer and he said “No problem”, she can come in on a tourist visa and leave every 30 days. He says that all nationalities can now get visa on arrival at the airport. Does anyone know if this is now the case? I just called Qatar airways and they said that Filipinos cannot get a visa on arrival.
Different immigration officers tell me different things. Does anyone have any experience of a Filipino parent or in-law staying for a year in Qatar?
