6. Doha is better than KSA, developing rapidly, but its not Dubai
7. studios are around QR5000 furnished.. one-bed appt somewhat decent is around 7-8 thousand..

10. intl calls are v exp.. local is free.. rents around 300pm including cable
11. virtually non-existent.. u will need a car
In the end it all depends on which company u wil b working for.. that makes all teh difference.. the place overall is good..

Anybody know about the procedure for the childrens who are born in pakistan for pakistani residents of Qatar.
One of our pakistani brother family was staying here and he send his wife for delievery to PAK. After the baby will born what procedure should be followed there in pakistan to bring the newly born baby to Qatar.
Has anyone gone through this thing....

what a relieve to see this group.... why becuase i am recently offered a very good job in qatar and currently they are in process of getting my residence visa.
i am currently workign in UAE however i heard rumours that it is very difficult to get Pakistani residence visa in qatar for some reason but good to see Pakistanis in Qatar.. which mean my visa should also come out easily. i will also need to bring me family ASAP.
could you gents shed some light on this topic??? my intial feed back from employer is they are facing some difficuliteis in getting my visa, although i am in sr. finance and admin manager position....
please share some tips and tricks with me and your own expereince or any help that you may offer to your Pakistani brother to get down to Qatar ASAP.

Inland sea ...Unfortunatelyt I do not have SUV ( and now I regret why I bought the car). The inland sea which is further deep into the desert, not far, less than 10 km borders to Saudia on one side and UAE on another, beautiful place. Nice water to swim, very calm and shallow, you can enjoy the drive over dunes......some of them scary.....but scenic beauty.
Give it a try....if you follow the crowd over the week end.....it will lead you there. Have fun !

Pak Int'l lic. You can only drive rent a car if you are on visit visa ... For residence permit you have to waiting till you get you visa stamped in your passport then you have to apply for New driving lic and appear for driving test.
Car lift - again you can search thru QL or check local news papers.

Ok Guys, I need your opening and some contacts as I have been thinking an idea...
I personally having worked in multinational europian american regional office and oil and gas industry noticed that unfourntalty most of pakistani new job seekers are behind in terms of work knowledge, interview skills, presentation, communication vs. some other nationals.
While we have very class A people, mainly who are educted out of UK, USA or this part of the world, even an MBA who come from Pakistan would trouble have speaking full proper english or interviewing a europian national etc.
So here is my plan, I am willing to give free traning, consultance, possible couple of hours on weekends to our students of 11th, 12th grade in our local schools, I could visit during off school times and could do lecture type traning, the whole idea is to get kids mind site setup as to what they expect in job market and than they could moulde themselves acccordingly.....
I also encourge my other friends who are well selttled in their life to take similar iniatives...
we have Pakistan Education Acadamy, Pak Shamma etc I think? here... anyone know the principale etc of this school to see if they like the idea....

lucky16pk, sorry to say ...lucky16pk, sorry to say the pak embassy doesnt do enough for the community. we would like more get togethers and other activities to benefit our youth as well as our labourers and other underpriveleged compatriots.
i also suggest fun fair where we can raise money for charity in pakistan and summercamps for children who arent going home for the summer. A nominal fee to cover the cost is also acceptable.

lucky16 we are desperately ...lucky16 we are desperately trying to get hajj visas for this year and heard the most shocking things. One agent said all his visas(which willbe available during ramadan) have been booked by the indonesian embassy and so he cannot get us any!!!!Why is our embassy oblivious to our problems???

because i think now its my 4th year in doha and i never ever get any cal or invitation from this embassy...
last year i went in embassy...to get a letter and it was a strange expereice for me that ....this portion of qatar is mini pakistan. they are really bloody idiots.
actually US embassy asked me to get a name confirmation letter from Pakistan embassy for visa application. and u know from top to bottom and bottom to top i guess all are idiots in embassy. it was surprise when a rascal clerk ask me to pay one qatari ryal for a photocopy and they were treating me as i am the alien.
any how i get manage to get the letter in three days. and then i submitted application for NOIP id card and so called state life insurance. and they told me that they wll contact after they receive the id card from NADRA.
now its almost one year they have not called me so far.
anyways .....after getting a letter from Pak embassy in three days when i return back to USA embassy it was a surprise for me.....because the administration and the counsular who interviewed me was treating me as a respectful manner and they were calling me with sufix sir.......
after these two experience what i did....i decided not go back to bloody pakistan embassy ever and not to get in touch with these idiot people.......
i think pakistani embassy is occupied by some idiots...
i really diappoitned so far i have travelled a number of countries and have had happen to face number of embassy but most miserable experience was in my own courntries embassy.............
