City Center ‘to remain closed until Saturday’
City Center Doha, which has been closed since last Friday for putting in place advanced safety, security and health measures at its premises, would remain shut until Saturday (June 23), inquiries found.
When contacted yesterday, sources at the mall said the company is adding several top quality safety features on the instructions of the civil defence officials and the mall would be ready only when all such works were completed and inspections carried out by experts from the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI’s) civil defence experts.
“Only on Saturday, can we confirm if the City Center Doha would be ready for reopening or not,” said a staffer. Until then no visitors would be allowed inside the complex, he said.
Inquiries found that tenants at the complex could visit the place and help out the security personnel in their inspections, if they are asked to do so.
Asked if the establishments located on the ground floor have also been instructed to temporarily close down their outlets, a staffer said everyone at the complex is bound to follow civil defence instructions.
Meanwhile, inquiries at the bus station, found the frequency of Mowasalat services to the City Center Doha continuing to remain the same, even though the number of passengers travelling on the sector has shown a considerable fall in the last couple of days. However, only very few taxis are operating from the complex now.
