City Center Doha remains closed for 22nd day
The Gulf Times is reporting that there is no new information about when City Center Doha will re-open.
There is no new information about the reopening of City Center Doha (CCD) which remained closed for the 22nd day yesterday.
The shopping complex was closed on June 15 for sprucing up its safety features as well as carrying out some major redesigning of the floor plans on the instructions of the Directorate of the Civil Defence.
The safety audit and the resultant actions were precipitated by the May 28 fire tragedy at the Villaggio Mall, which cost 19 lives, including that of 13 children.
With Villaggio and City Center Doha remaining closed, Qatar has been deprived of two of its major shopping destinations in the run-up to the summer holidays when residents go on a shopping spree.
As per the revised plans for City Center Doha, it is learnt that some major modifications would be made on some of the shops located on the top level of the complex.
However, uncertainty has prevailed among the tenants as there was no word from the mall operators on when it would be ready for resuming commercial operations.

People going for Vacations must thank ...Authorities to close 2 malls in Doha by saving huge money from the pockets of people going for vacations.
Any way most of the materials sold are from China, same materials are available back home at lesser price.

Thou as God said, City Center and Villagio were the new Soddam and Gormmaragh, so in my infinite wisdom I deemed them closed and thus they shall stay. Ye protect thy children from the devil of consumerism and walking aimlessly around city Center for hours worrying about the car parking charges.

Whinging and whining about ...Whinging and whining about not being able to visit Malls??? Safety issues aside (which are paramount) - has literature taken such a backseat? - what about reading a book?- watching a DVD? - going to a gym? - if you have children...spending time with your children instead of dumping them on nannies? - volunteering at QAW's.....the list goes on!! It seems those that bleet at not having Malls to visit are placing their own limited integrity under a question mark.....oh dear indeed.
