STANDARD OF LIVING IN QATAR IS RISING DAY BY DAY
Qatar is on going on hike for everything in accomodation, food and restrictions.
First of all i would say about the houses available on rent. Before 2 years back normal house 1 BHK flat for family was costing around 1000 to 1500 QR max rent. But now you cannot get a toilet for this amount. Almost the prices of houses are raised upto 400%.
Second thing food also mount upto 300%. You have to think what you wanna eat.
Thirdly the restrictions here is Qatar has become headache especially in driving cars. If you are not aware of these raiders than ultimately you have to pay for that.
So these are some of the points for which a normal man earning around 5000 QR cannot afford to stay with his family. It is better to go back to your country where atleast you will be with your family.
For staying in QATAR you have to earn around 20000 QR monthly from which you can save some money for future life. Or else life is just as first in first out. No sooner you get the salary than you have nothing left with you.

it is not the standard of living that is rising rather cost of living that is rising.
If standard of living is said to be raising then where are the benefits associated with it?

I Agree! ...Yesterday I paid Qrs 14 for a bottle of Gulfa at a restaurant and it wasn't even in a 5-star hotel. The waitress even included the service charge in the bill. Keep thinking what I would have been charged for diet-coke?

NO BENEFITS ACCORDINGLY ...That's what i m saying. there are no benefits accordingly for living in Qatar. As what smoke said is right that we are surviving.

You said "20000 QR monthly" is need to live in Qatar.
1) If you get expenses paid (which alot do) then no!
2) 20000 QR monthly is needed if you want to live a comfortable life.
I also find it odd that people are comparing prices by using 'bottled water in restaurants' as an example.
You've given alot of percentages my friend but I do not see any evidence.
For me, only rent is increasing and that is something the government is stablizing.
There is the odd imported snack that also rises, but in my pocket, I'm not losing anymore than I usually spend. So please get the facts straight.
And I'm also very sorry that Qatar makes you pay expensive FINES for BREAKING traffic laws.

Examples. ...can anyone give examples of how the cost of living has changed over the past few ears. such as the cost of a meal at a certain hotel, or something like that. With actualy prices from 5 years ago, compared to the price now - that would be brilliant.
