I agree with your comments regarding not giving in. However, It is also not wise to keep beating the same drum all the time :O)

Well the problem is as I see it, some people deliberatly try to get threads deleted because they disagree with them. Even if they have to create new IDs to abuse and shout offensive ideas. I am just saying the comments not relevant to thread can be deleted, not the whole thing.

It reminds me of the TV debate between Veena Malik and a Mufti recently. They try to silence her by calling her unislamic and shouting her down. Being the loudest voice in the room does not make you right.

Mods are not Gods.

They were full time QLers who accepted to operate as mods. So, they would have their share of shortcomings.

Yeah, agree with TCOM and others on the same page - state one's opinion so others can have the benefit or respond with something constructive and not destructive.

If the response is the latter, then just ignore, after all, it's no skin off one's nose. Regular QLers know who talks sense and who doesn't.

What does it matter what someones religion or lack of religion is?

Surely a person's opinion isn't based on their nationality or religion? If he was, say, Saudi Arabian, wouldn't his opinion count just as much as if he was Australian? Or some other nationality?

leave the nationality or religion out of it. you can always find your own coreligionists saying or doing things against the tenets of their own religion

Where as certain people on this forum see it as a direct attack on their country (even if the thread is opened by a fellow countryman/woman) what are they to do?, when certain people from other nationalities see the "dark" side of their culture or religion.

My favourite:

When certain people from certain countries (east) attack certain countries (west) whenever something about the east comes up.

What you don't find, is certain people (western) defending with such nastiness, but instead defending with discussion and articulate thought, even NOT agreeing with their own (western) peoples ideals

Unlike certain other people who will not allow anyone to see anything OR say anything bad about the east and would rather attack with silly posts like "the pope" or "the woman who ate her baby"

Where do either of those come into a topic such as "selling a child for money, due to poverty"

Instead of having a calm interesting discussion, offense was taken (as usual) and people start posting absolute drivvel and don't give sane, rational answers, but answer anything they view as derogatory towards the (west).

But of course none of the culprits will see it like that!!!

yes brit i have been living in saudi for 5yrs and have dealed with lot of mutawwas if u or moza or any qlers have any doubts about them i wud clarify them to my limits
