hahaha.. Qatar is looking for Quality people or cheap people... if this was the case why people were working in Dubai before in first place? Why these people were not working in Doha from beginning....???

The Good point. Qatar and other GCC countries are going to get a choice of quality people if they'd know how to offer them the right package.

The Bad point. Since there are alot of people getting laid off in Dubai, it is now a "buyer's" market. Meaning Qatar and perhaps other GCC countries like Saudi may offer these workers "cheaper" packages because they know that these people need to find jobs ASAP. I just hope they give them a fair and reasonable package for their talent and not get them just because they're a "cheap commodity" on a dime-per-dozen kind.

Just my thoughts....

I also hope that Qatar has adjusted some of its Labor practices in line with ILO's (International Labor Organization) guidelines, primarily the issue on holding people's passports and also on sponsorships.

Qatar needs to rationalize it's visa policy.

If Qatar gives a competitive salary packages, Quality people should chose the country in the first place. I hope that employers do not take advantage of hiring employees from Dubai and take them at the lowest possible salary bargains.

Depends on their qualifications and experience - ie. more focus on merit and not nepotism. But yes, agree with others that there is the possibility of abuse in these trying times, people not being paid what they are worth. Hope for the best.

/But nothing like working for SOME Chinaman companies with a main "policy" of squeezing blood out of stones, period.

Many people have moved from uae to qatar in recent months, I myself is moving to qatar with a good pay and hopefully i will like the place.

Yes, companies are taking advantage of the situation and taking qualified people at much lower salaries. They are also utilising the 'recession' situation to terminate people who were recruited at unbelievably higher rates due to scarcity of qualified people a few months back
