Latest news from Qatar
Qatar's Khalfan Ibrahim to join Santos FC?

Hello. Saw this in a sports magazine in Qatar. Very neat, I should say. And a great development too.
I have seen Khalfan play. He is good. He was Asia's best footballer in 2006. He's likely joining Brazil's Santos FC? That's indeed great news for football in Qatar.
WOW!
Bound for Brazil?
Star Qatari footballer Khalfan Ibrahim is likely to ply his trade at top Brazilian club Santos, writes N Ganesh.
WILL the Pearl of Qatar glitter in the land of Samba? If things progress as per plans, Al Sadd’s Qatar international Khalfan Ibrahim will don the colours of top Brazilian club Santos FC, where living legend Pele had spent much of his club career.
Santos are working on the chances, though they have found the player — arguably the best footballer presently in Qatar — a bit too pricey and hence have not made an official offer until now.

Got to be honest. ...He is one of the true shining lights of 'born and bred' Qatari Footballers. He stands out in evey game..
Personally speaking, Santos FC have been a feeder club for the World Football's strongest leagues. They have an awesome pedigree, past and present, (Eg - Carlos Alberto, Socrates, Robinho, Zé Roberto, Oliveira and Edu).
If Khalfan goes for football advancement that's great but he's already years behind the Brazilians.( As we all are). If he's going for a career it will be short-lived. Very few non -Brazilians make the cut. In my opinion, he will be better served moving to Germany, Spain, Italy or England. Might need to learn to take a tackle though.
I think he's good enough already.

This seems to be a rumour. ...This seems to be just a rumour. From todays Gulf times:
Qatar’s young striking starlet and former Asian Player of the Year Khalfan Ibrahim has dismissed suggestions he is on the verge of a move to Brazilian side Santos.
“They have not contacted me, so I do not know anything about such a move,” the 20-year old Khalfan told Gulf Times, “maybe they contacted my club or the national team, but if they did contact me then I would think about it.”
But with Al Sadd officials also denying any contacts with the Brazilian club made famous by Pele, Qatar’s highly talented youngster says he has set his sights on a move to Europe: “I would like to go to Europe, yes. To play there, and to prove myself on the biggest stage, that is something I would really like to do.”
Khalfan has been mentioned as a possible signing in some of the top leagues on the European continent, and the Times newspaper recently added him to their list of the top fifty most promising young players in the world. But Khalfan added: “At the moment I have no offers so I will continue playing and giving my best for Al Sadd.”
That was also the way an Al Sadd official saw things when contacted about the continuing rumors of a possible Khalfan move to Brazil. “No, there is nothing about it,” the source said, “we did not receive any offer and he will stay with us.”
If Khalfan does make a move to Europe at the end of the season he may be joined by Sebastian Soria, the 24-year old Qatar Club striker who has turned down offers from Spanish side Getafe for the past two seasons but is intent on leaving at the end of this campaign.
