ANY COMMENTS ON BUYING A USED BMW/MERCEDES MODEL 95-2000 ANY SERIES

HELLO BUDDIES,

ANYBODY WHO HAD EXPERIENCED DRIVING THESE BRAND OF CARS(ANY SERIES). YOUR ADVICE AND COMMENTS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

IM PLANNING TO TRY EITHER OF THE SAID BRAND OF CAR(USED-MODEL 95-2000). IM ALSO THINKING OF THE MAINTENANCE COST. KINDLY COMPARE THEM. IS IT A GOOD CHOICE EVEN THOUGH IT'S BETWEEN 10-13 YEARS OLD MODEL?

i m of the view that u r buying the car according to the famous idiom:"old is Gold".but remember dear this idiom doesnt work well here coz in most cases the computer system ,if it has,has gone wrong which can spoil the whole car.But still if u r willing t buy then do take a mechanic with u while buying.

Service is very expensive and not worth it in the end. Spare parts are costly.

I have a BMW still standing in the UAE as the oil tank needs a repair it will cost something in the range of QR 2.000,--.

If you have a lot of money then go ahead.

hi canarybird,

thanks for your advice. may i know what series and model your sedan is? what can u say about the perfromance of bmw 318i 98 model? any +/- feedbacks heard from your friends?

im planning to have a used car/sedan to avoid a very high depreciation of cars here. im willing to spend a little for the maintenance cost as long as it's not a major one, so pls help me decide if this 2 brand of cars have the highest performance and the lowest percentage of breakdown when we talk about 2nd hand car/sedans. any advice which series would be the best(model 95-2000). any bad experience as well with these brands, pls share.

I suggest that you go with Toyota or Honda. Older german cars are a recipe for problems and costly repair.
